I received my VR free Oculus gift today. So cool I never tried VR before! But I got nauseous after wearing it for 10 minutes. Am I just old or is this normal for VR?

No problems here.
If you wear glasses or contacts, take them off/out before using. The focus on the VR adjusts easily for any eyesight.

Mav.

Mine is coming tomorrow.

Does the code for the free download come with the headset package? I don't recall getting it in an email or anything.

I found if you move your body like you are supposed to be doing in the game it isn't as bad...
Maybe ease yourself into it... Don't start out with the rollercoaster app.... Start with something where you aren't moving around all the time.

Yes. It's on a white card in the box. Don't throw it out! And FYI you need to put the phone into the VR to trigger the download of the app.

Its kinda like motion sickness, at least that is what I read. See I use to have that same problem when I played Call Of Duty on a big screen TV. I read online that I needed to sit farther back from the TV and use brighter lights in the room and it would help. I did and now I don't have that issue anymore. I know you can't do what I did with the VR but now you know what is causing it. The brain thinks the body is moving, but it isn't and that's the problem from what I read.

I'm prone to motion sickness but only on certain theme park rides and sometimes car rides. I was nervous trying VR knowing the potential issues. I've tried several apps. None gave me any motion sickness but I did get a minor headache and some eyestrain my first try. Second time those symptoms weren't as bad and I could use it longer. I suggest , like others said, ease into it. Don't push yourself and let your sensory system get accustomed to it. Even when you are, I read that occasional breaks are often needed for most people.
