so I just picked up the Moto X using ATTs Next program (paid it all upfront) like 5 days ago. I'm intrigued by the Note 3 and its software adds a lot more then I thought I would be. Kind of stuck deciding wether I want to return the Moto X and wait for the Note. Ahh decisions decisions

If you still have the receipt, box, materials and you're within the 15-30 day window, hurry back to try it out. I do recall a restocking fee being part of the downside.

Yeah there is. I already bought a case for it from Verizon for 35$ so I can return that also. I just have to figure out what to do for the time between the Note 3 launch though as I have no other damn ATT phone.

Return it. The Moto X is a mere mortal compared to the god known as the Galaxy Note 3, and this in every regard except aesthetics, within with the Note 3 is in fact Satan.

And on another note, The Verge has made a big fuss about how the AT&T Next and Verizon Edge programs are scams. I'm too lazy to read it and form an opinion on it, but perhaps you might like to:

AT&T's Next phone upgrade plans are a huge ripoff | The Verge

Yea. Thing is though I had no upgrades and they refused to sell phones outright in store. The Moto X is 580$ outright and thats exactly what I paid after paying all the monthly fees of 27$ upfront. This way I pretty much just bought the phone outright. It doesn't mess with my upgrade as I am still due for a full upgrade next September. The fees I am paying on my bill regardless. So to me it just made sense to do it this way.

I essentially bought the phone outright, but used their "next" program. Or am I missing something?

i'm on verizon so forgive my ignorance, but i thought with att you could use any phone that supports gsm. for instance get a super cheap prepaid phone to use while you wait for the note 3. the note 3 specs render the moto x obsolete right out of the starting blocks....

Yea thats what I was thinking. Get a Lumia 520 or something and then prob just keep it for a spare.

The specs are substantially better. However, if you haven't used the Moto X you wouldn't know how well its optimized. The phone is wayyyy smoother then the S4 and even faster then the One. I'm at a point where specs shouldn't matter if the software is optimized. The Note does have a lot of software features that are unique to it and they intrigue me. The S4 had some, but they were gimmicky as hell. The Note's S-Pen functionality though is something I can see myself using.

If the size of the Note 3 appeals to you then go for it. For the right lifestyle they make a lot of sense. Will it run as fast and as smooth as the moto x, doubtful.

This is actually the exact thing I am contemplating. I have the Note1 and really like it, but it can be a bit overbearing with the raw size of the phone. With the great review the folks here gave the MotoX and the slick compact design i have really considered giving it a go. I have mostly been waiting for the Note3 as simply the next step from what i have now.

The value of good optimizations can't be overstated. The hardware of the MotoX is far from obsolete as well as someone above mentioned. It may not be a Snapdragon 800, but it doesn't needed it.

I say return it because you are unsure of your purchase and wait for the Note 3 to come out and if it's not what you thought you can always go back to the X...at least you'll be content this time. I wouldn't mind getting the X but it is too small for my taste and I will be missing the extra features that I come to like on the Note devices vs stock.

The moto x is too small to me, and I would not cross shop it against the Note 3. The Note 3 is a few steps above the Note 2, so it will be my next phone.
