Vs note 8

Nothing. If stylus is not important, S9+ is an easy decision given the better internals in my opinion. If you need the stylus obviously no other choice.

Currently using the s9+ and tested the note 8 for a week. The s9+ is a better choice, you get a fingerprint scanner in the right spot. The intelligent scan works way better than the iris function on the note 8.

Based on the issues people are having with photo results and video playback on the S9+, I personally would stick with the Note 8.

I would think Note fans would stick with the Note series but it seems like many like to jump back and forth.

Many people buy a Note for reasons other than the pen. If you are one of those people, I can see jumping back and forth as each leap-frogs the other with specs. If not for the pen, I -might- have been interested in the S9+ for the speakers and the PROMISE of that fancy camera system. But I am a pen user, and it seems the camera system does not live up to the promise. I hope they can deliver a software fix for the camera and video issues - for the sake of all the people who purchased those phones. I also strongly hope they get it completely sorted for the Note 9 release. I look forward to what the next generation will deliver, and that would put a major damper on it.

Other than the stylus, what features would the note 8 have that the s9+ wouldn't?

I have the Note 8 and also had the S9+ for a couple weeks. I preferred the S9+ in a few ways: better size, better speakers, better display, better speed, and better fingerprint reader. The problem was the S9+ camera. For me, that was a deal breaker and I returned S9+. I hope Samsung gets the camera fixed before the Note 9 comes out.

What's wrong with the camera?
Long story. There are numerous threads about it in these forums. Check them out. Softness, loss of detail, over processing, and the terrible front facing portrait photos. Then there is the "Black Crush" thread in here also, about video rendering issues. Not going to rehash it all here.

Same here, everything is great about the S9+ except for the camera which is a deal breaker. Switched back to my N8 as my primary. Hopefully they improve the camera in the next software update.

I came from Note 8...love the S9+...better size....easy 1 hand use...amazing speakers...way better battery life than Note 8...love the camera no issue for me...I prefer the S9+ to Note 8 ...if s pen is a absolute necessity...then stick with Note 8 and wait for Note 9

Having both I can say that I prefer the Note 8. They're both awesome phones and I love both but the S Pen is a big win. They both take good enough photos for my uses. I have a DSLR for anything that I think is serious but, in truth, these phone cams are pretty great...for me, that is.

The spen is a deal breaker, I don't use it everyday but when I do it's really handy. I've signed my taxes and refinancing documents right on my Note 8 without having to print out papers sign and scan then email them.

The thing about the S Pen is that it's great to have it if and when you want it. I miss it when I use my 9+.
