Look what I just got from VZW:

Now, in the 2 years that I've had an Android phone, I have never received a text message asking to upgrade the VCAST app, or any app for that matter. Don't know if anyone else received this, but I'm wondering if it's VZW's way of checking for rooted phones.

Just thought I'd share.

EDIT: Just downloaded but did not install. The file name is "Htc_Incredible_3077_VCast-gravity-signed.apk".

i got that this morning as well...ive got an earlier vcast app store apk on my sd card but have never had it installed. Google market works just fine for me. I got an error message when i tried downloading it. I ain't gonna worry about it..not a loss at all for me.

VCast has been nagging my wife's laptop for weeks now. Seriously, it needs to be flagged as malware.

I think you were more of a Marketing Police victim than a Root Police victim.

got it this morning here in tucson az......i'm thinking they are gearing up on this whole data plans deal.

I don't know, the ONLY thing that runs on my phone is cm7. Prolly for LTE and the tier.

Yeah, I just thought it was odd that I got that message, and having been a VZW customer for over 15 years, I had never before received a message like that. I am also running CM7 and have to plans to install the vcast app.

Got same text today. Just deleted it. One of the many reasons I loaded CM7 was to get rid of Verizon bloat!

I got that same text and I'm still running stock, unrooted. But i will likely root shortly to rid of the Verizon "software" and to get wireless tethering.
