The last thing Verizon wants is a big launch ride in the middle of a major network issue.

I would agree with that. Sounds like the OP did say there was a software update (OTA) coming too - maybe all of these combined issues forced the delay...

This is the reason why. Epic fail. Nexus got pushed to the back and we all know that the latest update on the nexus made the phone better and almost no bugs aand even the signal was better.

I don't believe the OP. If there were problems with the phone, I think Verizon would have come out and said something. It would be nothing embarrassing for them, as they didn't make the phone or the software. The only reason that Verizon would say nothing at all is because there was no sound reason...they just wanted to push Droid devices and knew the GN would take away from that.
I have thunderbolt, rooted and rommed with some radio I can't remember, and FWIW LTE has been stupid stable on my phnoe for the past month or two. That being said, the thing was a nightmare when I got it on launch day I almost took it back because the thing had horrible 4g to 3g drop off performance. While switching it would literally have 0 data connectivity for 1-2 seconds and if you were on the edge of 4g, or like me, in a building which made gave the 4g signal fits, it was a mess. My phone would drop connectivity every 10-15 seconds or more. I hated it.
Things eventually smoothed out and were fixed but it took time. Now it's a big brick of a phone with awesome network connectivity. So much "awesome" in its network performance that I'd be hesitant to even switch to a nexus if I had to go through something like that crap again. It feeds whatever device/tablet/laptop smooth, 4g lte, data constantly with almost no hiccpus.
My point is, nearly every 4g phone has had problems getting consistent performance on Verizon's lte network. Hell, the iphone 5 with LTE isn't even out yet because I'd bet large sums of money that apple is experiencing the same thing that every other single company has experienced with this network.
Eventually, like all things using computers, they will figure it out. It's just a matter of time, but trust me, not having a buggy phone that you may just end up hating is NOT the worst thing in the world.

I have to disagree with you there. If they announced that the phone had data connectivity issues, it would hurt sales. While it's true that they may want to sell Droid devices more so they can justify paying for the Droid licensing and the ridiculous commercials, they still want to sell the Galaxy Nexus. If they didn't, they wouldn't have even bothered with bidding for it let alone attempting to get exclusivity rights.
Trust me I'm as frustrated as anyone, if not more because I told my mother that once I got the phone she would be getting my Thunderbolt, but it's ridiculous to start blaming tablets for the delay now (I know you didn't, but others have).
I wish I knew where he worked so I could call his store and bother him today. No phone is perfect out of the box. The phone is okay in England, okay in Canada, but not okay for Verizon? Clearly it's not the phone but the carrier. Believing anything is absurd.
I have to take issue with this as well. There is one HUGE difference between the rest of the world's Galaxy Nexus and Verizon's. It's a little thing called GSM versus CDMA/LTE. The Charge had some major connectivity issues when it first came out as well.
My thoughts on this are that Verizon never actually wanted this phone. I even think they hate the fact that they have it, and at some point, have to release it. It's got no bloat and bloat = $$. That's what ALL of this comes down to. I believe the only reason that Verizon bought the rights to the phone was solely to take the phone away from other carriers in the US. But those are just my own conspiracy theories. I also believe teeth whitening treatments were invented by dentist to make our gums and teeth more susceptible to problems.
Serious outages for months? I don't think so. This was only the second I'm aware of.

They can't be held accountable, if they don't communicate a release date. As irresponsible as that seems to cusomers, that's beneficial to their business strategies. That's been there modus operandi for years. We should all be used to this by now and we probably would be if the other big 3 carriers, had issues like Verizon has with bringing new products to their netwiorks. I hope Verizon learns to keep a lid on upcoming devices like their competitor. Being the biggrat carrier, they sure didn't get there by having the happiest consumer base.
It's only the 2nd nationwide one that I know. I've only lost LTE twice since I got the Thunderbolt in March.
Yet I personally believe at first they were excited - until they realized what a fine line they have to walk to maintain good face with Google and Google's sometimes viciously loyal dev base.
I believe (completely baselessly) that they wanted the phone to come out on time really badly, but for fear of getting in trouble with Google are not going to release it if it's not ready. The XYboard looks to me like a delaying tactic - "We can't just delay it and sell NOTHING new in the middle of the holiday season - quick, toss something out there!" I doubt they expect to get more sales out of the XYboard than they will out of the Galaxy Nexus, so I doubt they'd actually rather sell that first. I doubt they're happy about the way this month has gone for them at all.
Again I have absolutely no evidence for that at all, and I have no business experience of any kind so my opinion is pretty much less useful than your own poo.
I don't totally disagree with the fact that they want to sell more phones with bloat and I even said that in my previous post that you happened to take just one and one half of a sentence out of (context, context, context is the rule of reading comprehension).
However, to say Verizon threw money away to keep other carriers from having it is ridiculous. Samsung and Google are not some fly-by night companies that Verizon can dupe so easily. Samsung and Google agreed to make a phone specifically for Verizon because it's not going to work on any other network as well (yet). If Verizon never got the phone, they would still be able to claim superiority over it and the other carriers because it wouldn't have LTE.
So to get to the point, I doubt Verizon would throw a large sum of money away to try and keep other carriers from taking their customers and money (how would that make sense?). Also as stated before, if Samsung and Google had any reservations about Verizon's intentions, I'm sure they would have called them on it.

As I mentioned in the thread I started regarding my training yesterday, the Samsung area manager, although not the brightest person I've ever met, clearly said she is thinking of a next Friday release because the "problem they are having shouldn't take that long to fix".

JEEZ - it's just a phone!!!!! It will come out - we all know they are sitting in the stores, we all know that Verizon/Google/Samsung wants them out to all the people, we all know the more smartphones they sell with data paks, the more money they make and the higher the stock goes!!!
