VZW Extended Phone Protection Replacement Device

Hello, just curious is their a way to find out of vzw has run out of replacement certain models phones and then would bump the customer up to the next model/or equivalent model? Or is it just luck of the draw. that if i have a s3 for example and they have no more s3's to replace it with and then they replace with an s4 model ?

Really luck of the draw. There is no guarantee. Sometimes they will run out temporarily, and would be back in stock later. Also they are required to provide you an equivalent unit, not a newer model. What they consider equivalent may or may not be the same as what you do.

When they replaced an s3 for me they sent me a Droid something or other. I was not happy and sent it back.

At some point sure, but I don't think anytime soon. The s3 was still being sold for a while after the s4 was released. Those people would still be on contract until close to mid 2015. Keeping in mind the popularity of the s3, as people send in damaged phones, those phones are refurbished and sent out as CLNR.

Do we know who certifies these replacements ? is it the manufacturer or verizion or an outside company>

Yes it is. I received a new Thunderbolt as a warranty replacement. Still came in the same CLNR packaging and came with phone only. On the Thunderbolt, the color of the sticker over the screw indicated whether new or refurbished. I forgot which is which now. But different devices can be different

It may be new, but policy says that it may be re manufactured. I have heard of people receiving new and re manufactured

I have received both new and refurbished from asurion. you can request new doesnt mean u will get it but a better chance of that happening if you request it
