VZW Galaxy Nexus ICS 4.0.4 Radios

I flashed 4.0.4 ROM yesterday and I'm really glad I did. Much better experience all around. The 3g to 4g switch lag was really annoying and it appears to be fixed. I really wouldn't judge the GN before running 4.0.4.

For sure want this phone so I will hold off judgement until I can get 4.0.4 in. Thanks for your input.

Certainly appreciate your input and advice. I know just enough about rooting, flashing, etc to be dangerous. I did use CWM/Rom Mgr/Cyanogen Mod ROM on my Droid 1. Not sure that I am brave enough to mess with this new phone. I guess as long as I can get confident in knowing the procedure to roll back to stock, I'll give it a shot.

Thanks again.

You can unroot, and revert back to stock.

You do not need to root to flash the leaked 4.04, FYI. I wouldn't bother rooting if you're thinking about returning the phone. All you need to do is use the Root Toolkit to unlock the bootloader, then use the option to boot to CWM recovery without permanent flash and then flash the OTA update (not the "rom" that was create from a nandroid backup).

This is the file you want to use to update to 4.04 once you've unlocked the bootloader, and here is the link to the Root Toolkit.

I say again, don't root if you're thinking of returning the phone; instead flash the update via the Toolkit process after you've unlocked your bootloader. If you're much happier with what the update to 4.04 offers then root.

OK.... I'm up and running with 4.0.4. So I'll see how it goes over the next couple of days.

But.....Now I have another issue to deal with. I unlocked and rooted my phone using Wug's Toolkit (which really works well once you get the drivers into your computer). I downloaded 4.0.4 and installed it using ROM Manager. Before doing so, I made a CWM back-up of my stock 4.0.2. 4.0.4 is up an running fine (at least so far). My problem is that now ROM Manager doesn't work. For example: If I try to "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery," I get an error stating ""An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" If I try to restore my backup 4.0.2, and say "OK" to "are you sure", nothing happens. It acts just like I had selected "Cancel" rather than "OK." I get the same error message if I try to "Fix Permissions." I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling to no avail. I may have to start a "cry for help" thread on this one.... or simply use the Toolkit to put the phone back to stock and start over again.

You lost root. You need to copy the su file to the phone. There are instructions in another thread.

I considered that possibility so I used Wug's toolkit and re-ran the root batch routine but it didn't seem to change anything. I will look for and try your suggestion. Thanks very much.

Anyone know if these radio files boost the output reception at all?

I installed the 4.0.4 radios today and I still have real bad reception at my house. My wife's iPhone gets 3 bars while i get 1 or none on 3G or 4G, but i did notice that it switches from 4G to 3G more smoothly.
