VZW JB Update - Battery Life Thread

Ok, this phone gets hot quick. It is hot to the touch now. It auto-updated 3 apps and I looked at the new youtube app for 2 minutes (didn't watch a video). Basically, for every minute of screen time, it's going down 1% in battery life.

I need suggestions. Go to Verizon and troubleshoot? or what?

Above is today

Below is Yesterday. Look familiar? And its hot after uploading these two screen shots. down 5% doing just that. Something is ramping the CPU up to full blast, that's got to be it. But whatever it is, it's not showing in my battery settings menu.

edit: even though I wasn't using it, I had installed Apex Launcher 2 days ago. Just uninstalled, i'll see if that helps.

You never answered my question about live wallpaper or widgets. Also, your cell signal is so-so, that's not helping things.

Also, you need to figure out why it is staying awake all that time when you aren't turning the screen on.

Also, show us a screen of what is using the most battery.

Even though the up time is only around 2 hours and 30 minutes also this is with the stock 1850 battery

No live wallpapers and widgets are the same as in ICS. I have 4 scrollable widgets (two Gmail accounts, 1 Plume, 1 Calendar) and widgitsoid in the notification bar. I had good battery life with these before JB.

At least this phone charges fast.

ha, well its not much help if its dead in about 6 hours. One thing I did do is delete APEX launcher. I had it installed, but was not using it. You can see in the screen shot that it has leveled off some. I'm wondering why SDcard is at 9% or Media is at 6%. I was accessing my gallary for a few minutes. Would that be the reason for SDcard usage?

After a little while my phone has calmed down a bit and i get pretty good battery life

at 28% it leveled off, had a 12 minute phone call and it was at 20% when I hung up. Thats absurd.

edit: 25 minutes later - 8%. I've done nothing.

I talked to a verizon guy, he can give me a replacement refurb or I can try the hard reset. If I have to hard reset this, I'm going to root and rom it.

How do you guys keep your screen precentage so low, mine is never below 70% and I have the 2100mah extended battery, i keep screen time out low (15secs), brightness low like 15-20%, im running stock JB. I have no live wallpapers running and the only widgets I use are the calendar widget, beautiful widgets home weather widget, music player widget, and power control widget.

I would wipe it. There is probably an app or two that is messing it up. Only load what you need.

I'm at 3 hours screen time with wifi on and really only texting battery is around 28%
Does this seem pretty good or?

OK. Now I'm having great battery life. I installed OS Monitor to see what was going on. Couldn't really tell but I could see the CPU was running @ 50%+ for no reason. I got rid of some apps including light flow. I also removed a lot of widgets although I out two back on.

Looking at the screen shot and comparing it to others, awake time is way way down. Praying things stay this way. Mind you, I took it off the charger at 88%. So I'm getting close to 20 hours on this charge.

Was pretty pleased with this. My wife and I Skyped some during this. I had the bluetooth on the whole time and Torque is a battery hog for any phone.

I should mention my battery is just a bit bigger than the OEM.

I'm fairly satisfied with this. Not on wifi too much today and a decent amount of calling/texting. A lot of podcast listening and a bit of game playing. Not to mention some YouTube now and then. Total screen on time was about 3 hours. A chunk of battery was wasted downloading all the data that comes with FIFA 12.

I'm going to try OS Monitor and see if that helps me find why my screen usage is so high. Thanks1

on average 5-6 hrs on samsung 2100 mah battery. Thats with only google sync on for contacts and gmail. Gmail pulls every 15 minutes. All social networks are manual sync and notifications are off. Screen brightness is about 15-20% and timeout is 15 seconds.
