I was thinking about using an upgrade in the next couple of weeks, and i don't want to give up my Dinc. I was going to let my wife use it. Has anyone taken a rooted device to a VZW store to activate it on another line? If so has anyone had any problems with them activating it? The phone is too good to not use and I wanted to just put it on her line to keep it activated to use some of the rooted apps we need like wifi tether. Im sorry if this was posted somewhere else i didn't see any results for this situation. As always very grateful to the forum members for any responses. Ive never seen such a helpful community of people under one site.

Do everything over the phone with verizon... I do it all the time :) just call 611 and tell them what you want to do...

They don't care if your phone is rooted. And besides, why would you go to the store to put it on your wifes line. All you have to do is power off her current phone and do the meid line swap on you online account. Then they never see the phone, or you can also call 611 or 8009220204 and have them do it.

Yeah why go in when you have the other 2 options. I also doubt anyone at the store would ever even notice it's rooted unless you tell them or you have a wall paper saying "This phone is Rooted"

Plus, rooting affects nothing except for your warranty. They'll only care if you ask them to make a repair or to trade it in. It's not like rooting is illegal or anything.

You can also do it yourself by *228. Just have to make sure her old phone is turned off before activation
