VZW Rep trying to push D Inc instead of 4G TB

My wife is looking to upgrade. At first, VZW rep told her to take the Thunderbolt 4G. Today, he tells us 4G network is crap, and to take the Droid Incredible - a nearly two year old phone that doesn't even have Gingerbread on it and no chance of ICS.

I think he's looking to move old stock and stick us with very old technology: what do you think?

Are you sure he didn't suggest the Incredible 2? The original Droid Incredible hasn't been available for quite some time.

The Dinc 2 is more or less a Thunderbolt with out LTE.

Thanks for the reply: She called me after she went to the store and couldn't remember, but I think you are right. Still, why pay the same price for the D Inc2 with out LTE or Gingerbread when you could get a TB?

Well if 4G isn't really something she's all up in arms about I think I'd give some real consideration to the Inc 2. Better batt life anyway. Depends on how she feels about having to have the latest/greatest and if she does have to have latest / greatest she should wait a few more days for the Rezound ...or maybe the Rhyme, which is supposedly a female driven phone.

I'm not sure how good your LTE coverage is or that you even have it at all but I can say for sure that it is not crap where I live. It is amazing!

U should not buy the TB itbwill not see ics. Also TB is outdated.

1. Sounds like you weren't at a corporate store

2. Check out Verizon's map for 4G coverage in your area - if it's bad or non-existent, then maybe consider a 3G phone. But remember that you will most likely get 4G at some point over the next 20 months as they expand their rollout.

For a lot of customers the DInc2 is a better option than the TBolt. It's smaller and gets a lot better battery life. My suspicion was that they were talking crap for battery life, which is completely true. Witness all the threads on here about how to turn off 4G LTE.

For any of us on this site that would not be what we would choose but for joe or in this case jane consumer it is a nicer phone.

We don't know that for a fact yet we just know that is hasn't been stated that it WILL get it. It's in that big void of unknowns. DInc2 is only slightly newer and that one is just as unlikely to get ICS.
