VZW Reps idle chater

As I said in another thread with a similar theme, this says it all:

these verizon reps are crazy, telling people a bunch of BS, just seems kind of ass backwards to me

this is the third thread Ive seen with a verizon rep telling lies

Kratzer, what do you mean by this thing is corporate only until August?

As for 8 of 10 being DOA, it sounds like someone who is misinformed or trying to "bigshot" another rep to show they are more "in the know" than they are. I suppose its possible that 8 of 10 have bad or dead batterys. Possible...but not likely.

It's already been said, but clearly if the defect rate were that high you'd have a thread here with people up in arms over their faulty phones.

And that's from a guy who had to return one of the two he bought. I don't doubt that both the demand and the defect rate might've been higher than expected, but no way was it anywhere near 80%.

Again, this thing is corporate only until August, so third party sellers, like kiosks are SOL and green with envy.

Corporate. Only = only Verizon official stores. Eg. No sales at a "wireless zone"

Incorrect. If that were the case then BB would Not have any either. Also the indirect that I work for had 75 shipped total, and sold out in 2 days through 9 stores.

The GM of my company came in the store today. He said that the hold up with the latest shipping is that their is some delay with a chip from a company. They are working to catch up, but that is the delay.

If verizon had 156,000 of these at 8 of 10 that means 125,000 roughly would be crap. I have a good one(glitchy but good), and have yet to have any of the 12 that passed our sales counter returned. So I would say that this is debunked.

A friend of mine works for a indie Verizon place...mall type store. He was told Verizon is keeping all the Droid for their corporate owned and online sales til august because of their. Underestimate of demand. How could they not think finally selling a good phone wouldn't result in high demand?

I have a good friend at Verizon... even the Verizon reps. themselves can't get their hands on an Incredible. I hear the shortage was due to poor forcasting.... VZW... did not predict the power that the blogs would have in generating demand. No Verizon store in Portland has any in stock.

Nvr- my info is second hand so definitely fallible. But he said it has to do with Qualcomm not being able to keep up with snapdragon production. They are in the top 3-4 phones right now. And with 8 of 10 incredible being Doa.... that puts a hurdle into production ;)

Seems like it's just a case of supply and demand... There's a huge supply of Motorola Droids and such, but people are demanding the Incredible. If people are waiting on one phone, they're not making money if it's out of stock.

Rely on users of the phone, such as in this forum, not a salesman... Guaranteed when the Incredible is in stock, those same people will be talking up the phone as if its the Holy Grail...

Actually VZW did get caught by surprise with the very high sales rate. That is why they sold out so quickly.

There was a report even before the phone was released that supply of certain parts of the phone were in short supply, and that there would likely be some delays in getting stock. I don't think they were surprised, and I also think that is why official info about the phone was so sketchy before launch. They just needed enough inventory to not have a real fiasco. Note there aren't nearly as many commercials for the Incredible as there were for the Droid either.

which would be in line with what my GM had to say to me today. I have 5 people with $50 deposits sitting on these phones. Basically it isnt an HTC or Verizon shortage, it is a supply shortage to HTC.

I always know more about the item I am buying than the salesperson...ALWAYS. Cars computers phones dishwashers shovels it doesnt matter. I do my homework. I cant get over some of these reps with their lack of product knowledge (that seems to come from the top.. I figured the shortage was due to unforseen demand. And if 8 of 10 were DOA this place would be ON FIRE about it. I just thought it was worth mentioning...

Yeah last I heard it was a shortage coming from Samsung who produces the screens. Who knows though, it could be anywhere in the supply chain to Verizon.

80% DOA are u serious? I find that extremelly hard to believe!

Because it isn't true, like it has been said a hundred times, if the defect rate was that high then out of the people just on this forum we would have a HUGE number reporting returns. I haven't seen it yet.
