So, I went to a vzw store here in northern virginia to play with the DX and I asked the salesman if he had any news about the Fascinate. Lo and behold, he said they received a large shipment of them today. I asked if pre-order in the store was available and he said the shipment was large enough that pre-ordering would not be necessary.

With that said, why is VZ still mum about the Fascinate? Either way, I am very excited for it.

Oops, I forgot to mention he said it would be available Sept. 9th. So I guess those reports of it being available on the 8th are for online orders, that arrive on the 9th?

Verizon's lack of press regarding the Fascinate is bizarre. I know they love their droids and all, but it's well past the DX's launch. Maybe we'll see some ads from Samsung, like they've done with all the others so far.

there's a commercial out for it, saw it yesterday. it's a car chasing a motorcycle through a warehouse. not the best of the commercials, but pretty entertaining

I just saw it. Seems to be the least awesome of the Samsung commercials. Vibrant = Avatar, Captivate = medieval battle, Epic = scifi ships, Fascinate = car chase. Seems like we also got the worst name. I'll be referring to mine as a "Galaxy". Maybe that's the price we pay for camera flash?

Still, it's a Samsung commercial. Verizon needs to show some enthusiasm for a phone that rivals the Droids.

Why would verizon want to show it some love when it blows its baby(moto) outta the water. I mean here we are a week away from release and verizon still hasn't said any "offical" word about it.

Except they did the same thing with the Droid 2 -- not a word about it until two days before launch. So I doubt this has anything to do with the fact that it's not Motorola.

This could just be the way they're doing these launches nowadays. It kinda makes sense, really, with so many phones coming out so close together. Verizon would rather have customers look at the phones they just released, rather than waiting for the next big thing ... because there's always going to be a next big thing coming in just a few weeks.

I won't be at all surprised if Verizon announces the Fascinate launch on Tuesday, starts taking online orders on Wednesday, and launches it in stores on Thursday. That's exactly what they did with the Droid 2.
