VZW to T-MOBILE with online activation?

I'm wanting to switch from Verizon to T-Mobile and order a Pixel 6 and 6Pro but to avoid all the activation fees I'm planning to do it online. Where I'm confused is where I stand between placing the order and the phones arriving and getting activated. Am I still with Verizon during those few days? Am I ported to T-Mobile on my current devices when I place the order then just activate the new phones when they get here? I've ordered phones and activated them online before but never done a carrier switch at the same time.

Your line stays on your existing carrier until you activate it on the new carrier, which won't happen until you get the SIM card for that carrier.

Perfect. Thanks! I assumed that was probably the probably the case but knew there'd probably be some more experienced knowledge in here.

Just be aware that sometimes some features are not available immediately, it may take a couple hours to fully complete the port and activation.

So apparently a credit monitoring service I have actually had a lock on my credit which blocked me from being able to do this online. I finally found the lock and temporarily removed it but I guess T-Mobile doesn't care if you clear it and the only way I was able to continue my order was by calling or going to the store. I called (bc I still don't want to pay activation fees) and am now impatiently waiting for my phones to ship... Ordered Friday afternoon and still no shipped notification... I'm starting to think that the $40 activation for both phones would have been worth having the phones for 3 days now...
