VZW's "Flagship" phone

All information I've seen points to the DT camera being the same unit as the one in Sony's Xperia phones. I think the biggest issue Motorola, and Google with their Nexus devices, have with cameras is the software. Both tend to use a very bare bones software UI, and I'm guessing their post processing software isn't as good either. Even HTC, while having a more feature laden UI, has never been known for their cameras. But Sony and Samsung have both been doing P&S cameras for a long time now. It makes sense that they'd have a leg up on others.

If they can get people with more camera experience working on their UI and processing software, they could be right up there with the rest.

Obviously it would be nice to have the best hardware/software across the board, but which phone does? The Note 4 is the closest but it has its quirks too. Motorola is definitely not known for cutting edge cameras, though this one is arguably their best. I do like the leeway I get in cropping my shots with 20.7 megapixels and the dual LED flash helps in low light situations.

The software is certainly minimalist, but to keep up in the future they could use better sensors and OIS. Though, the camera is more than adequate for many people and certainly not terrible. But the truth is if having a top camera is near or at the top of one's list of smartphone criteria, then go ahead and look elsewhere.

I hear that Lollipop might support RAW format, or DNG more specifically. If that's the case, then I might be a little less concerned. Of course, only testing will tell.

Yeah, the Droid Turbo is basically a hybrid of most of the best features from the Moto X & Nexus 6, and then throws in a monster battery. Too bad that it's been quite underrated by so many media outlets.

It will remain underrated because it's a carrier exclusive.

Without a doubt, this phone is rapidly becoming VZW's "Flagship" phone. Certainly the phone has some issues. From what I have read and experienced for myself, i have confidence that most of the "issues" will be addressed in forthcoming software updates. While no device is "future proof", this one seems to answer most of those concerns. I can only expect that I can keep this phone for 2 yrs and not feel embarrassed.

It's a DROID. It's automatically Verizon's flagship phone since it's their device.
