Wait for Holiday, get HTC Inspire, or get Galaxy S 2?

Hey guys so I need a new phone by August 1st...I've decided I like HTC the best. My first choice would be the rumored HTC Holiday but it looks more and more like it's not coming out for a while so I don't know if that's going to be a choice for me. So should I go ahead and buy an HTC Inspire or should I get a Samsung Galaxy S 2? I love HTC and the only knock I have on the S2 is that Samsung doesn't upgrade any of their devices for a long while...but does that still apply to the S2 (being their biggest phone)? So what do you HTC Inspire guys think, would you still buy the Inspire or would you get an S2 if you could choose right now? Is the UI really worth it? And keep in mind the price doesn't factor into it at all for me. Thanks for the feedback!

I've owned several Samsung phones, none of them being a smart phone, but I've had bad experiences with most of the software. I recently played around with the Samsung Infuse software (which would be the similar if not the same to the G2 software), and honestly, I didn't really like it. It seems like the only thing I liked about the Infuse was the front facing camera.

I own the Inspire now, and HTC has done a remarkable job with their software and hardware. I'd recommend the Inspire, just because I've had a great experience with it, and HTC is a much more reliable brand than Samsung.

I'm new to android myself but from what I hear HTC also keeps their phones failry up to date and Samsung does not. But again, that's just what I've read from forums such as these.

How long did it take for the Captivate to get updated? Quite a while if I read correctly. I would imagine that would follow suit with other phones, or rather I wouldn't want to take a chance. HTC seems to be very supportive of there devices so I would choose them solely based on that fact.

I've had some hair pulling moments with my Inspire since I got it on launch day - mostly due, I think, to my expectations perhaps not matching reality - but I've come to really love the phone and what all I can do with it (customization wise) even without rooting it.

My biggest concern was - and still is - battery life. Even after putting in an extended life I was getting horrible battery life. But - and I understand task killers aren't everybody's particular cup o tea - ever since I installed ATK and put the widget on my homescreen I am seeing MAJOR improvement in battery life just by randomly (almost obsessively) using ATK to kill apps and save battery.

So, for what it's worth, I highly recommend the Inspire and I highly recommend running the ATK widget on it.

Well the thing is, I'm going to keep this phone for atleast two years. So the only problem I sense is that the Inspire has been out so long that pretty soon HTC will start to give it less attention and I might be better off with the G2 and it's specs. Is it worth getting the Inspire for 2 years at this point over a G2?

My wife's Inspire is awesome, and it has a solid spec sheet. Some of the high end devices released recently still aren't up there (hello, Infuse?).

I wouldnt worry a lot about it. If you like it, get it and have fun. I would say if you need a phone now, I wouldn't think twice about it.

If you are really worried and need a phone now, the Atrix would do you well, too. With the GB update coming fast, and the better optimization of dual core useage, and Motorola behind it, it should also last you the 2years.

Hm...interesting, I've heard some really bad things about Motoblur. Any opinion on it? Is it really unbearable? I don't want to have to root right away on a new phone.

Samsung's updates are actually the carrier's faults, (save for the froyo updates). The Galaxy s received its gingerbread update about 5 months after the froyo (maybe more but it was fast). You could wait for the lg thrill but i heard it was "glitchy" and lg isn't good with updates at all.

It depends on the user. My wife loved it, even on her Backflip. I've been using an Atrix that I borrowed from my father, to see if I like it. I have no real issues with it at all. I actually prefer it over the HTC.

Honestly, you have 30 days to return it. Give it a shot.I think the Atrix with the upcoming GB update is going to really beef up the phone.

I've owned the captivate and the Nexus S, the captivate was a bad experience for me the software was a laggy mess, my Nexus S was great but the hardware was a fail at times, I got my inspire because the Nexus S power button just stopped working one day. I don't trust samsung anymore.

Does anyone know if maybe the Holiday - or whatever they decide to call it - will be available on Att within the month??
