waiting for B&N update

I rooted my Color Nook(1.1)using Auto-Rooter 3.0. What will happen to my nook when B&N updates to 2.2?
Should I return to stock first?
Any ideas?

You should never take an OTA update with a rooted device. In the worse case it could brick you device, but that is pretty unlikely. There are ways of blocking the OTA update which have been documented in some of the sticky threads. This will let you wait until 2.2 has been rooted before you update.

No one knows for sure, even with the supposed "OTA update blocking" hacks. It's a wait and see approach.

IMO, it is safest to install the completely stock 1.1 first and let it OTA. I would be surprised if it took very long for the guys here to root it. Froyo is a pretty well understood version of Android.

What you may want to consider is to run the SD card version of CM7 final while the OTA is going on. You may find you're spoiled enough with Gingerbread that you won't want to go back to Froyo.

However, I'm really torn between the two as I really like the native Nook Color reader app. It is, IMO, much better than the Android Market version, though the Market version is serviceable. So far as I know, no one has ported it to run on CM7, much less other phones.

All of the stock features would be nice on any of the rooted or custom roms (including free in-store reading, nc ereader app, etc). That's the main reason I'm still on my 2.1 rooted version, is because I actually use it as an ereader too, so want to keep that functionality. Having the "nook" button prompt me for which launcher each time is annoying, but is a small price to pay in order to go back to my nook color home screen for book reading purposes.

What launcher do you have installed? I have Zeam and made it my default. I have experienced no loss of functionality and the Nook button works just like the Home button.
