Waiting for see how to root after Froyo official OTA

Right, but you were rooted or were on the original vers. The problem with the RUU's is that they wont work on a newer Hboot, which we cant change unless we are rooted.

So yes, if you are rooted or have never applied any OTA's, then you can flash the ENG Hboot, and do whatever you want.

If you installed the latest OTA, and your are not rooted. You wont be able to flash the ENG Hboot. And you wont be able to use a RUU to downgrade.

thats not true...

I did do the OTA and thats why i flashed the Eng boot version of pc36

Thats why it was such a PITA to fix... I learned my lesson the hard way but lesson learned...

Now im Forging ahead with the rest of you...

I'm soooo confused. you must have had more going on behind the sceens.

When the OTA came out, and people installed it. There was a big ruckus because the original root process would fail out due to a signature error or whatnot.

Therefore an awesome dev, found a flash exploit that allowed one to bypass the security and root the phone.

So if you applied the OTA, and just flashed a ENG Boot, then something else was up.

Some one with more know how than me please chime in.

Otherwise, try it. Unroot, install the froyo OTA, and then flash the ENG Boot. If it works cool, if not , your SOL

IDK but yea I was having Sig Issues Flashing CM6 this is how it all started...

I was able to flash the Eng PC36 no problem but after that is where the issues came...

I dont mean to be a ****** but he might be SOL anyway...

Unless he's persistent then he might get it... Persistence is the name of the game here....

Nah you didnt sound douchey. I remember this issue, but i think you had a partial root. Enough to be able to work with, but not enough to do it easily.

And agreed, persistence is key. Keep posted over at XDA. They'll get something eventually, they always do.

WOW confusion!! Jesus and d3xn2o are both right, but talking about two different things. The OP will not be able to RUU down unless he is rooted. As of right now 2.2 is not rootable. There are rooted roms that you can flash if you are already rooted, but no way to root a stock 2.2 phone. As soon as 2.2 is rooted, he will be able to do what d3xn2o did and back down. d3xn2o, it wasn't until you were rooted were you able to back down to an earlier version. So the OP may be SOL, as with every new update. It's not promised that the Devs will be able to figure out a new exploit.

Im good now tho CM6 kicks ***... Im happy

I guess it's safer to just waiting for Dev work something new way out...Thanks, guys, here will be pale w/o you, especially, Jesus and d3xn2o

well thanks guys, great discussion, answered my question about the mess I got myself into, i'm rooting as soon as there is a way in froyo. I delayed cause I did'nt see the advantage. I know better now!
