Wake screen with notifications

I had a Pixel 4xl and I thought when I received a notification the screen would wake up, like when you touch to wake the screen. The screen would get bright.

With the Pixel 5, when I get a notification, the screen does show the notification but the screen doesn't light up, so it's hard to see the notification from a distance. Is there a setting in the Pixel 5 that does that or did that change that type of notification?

Have the exact same problem notifications on lockscreen are not bright enough to see. I believe the issue is if your in a dark area, stand under a light and works fine. Would love to know if there is a fix.

Yup, Yup absolutely! You can manually adjust the screen brightness, but the auto-brightness settle uses the ambient sensor on the phone to detect different light situations within a room. The darker the room, the darker your screen will be, etc.

I agree. I had the 4xl and really liked that. I now have the s21 and the pixel 5. The s21 handles text message notifications so much better. That's been my daily driver, which is sad because I really like the Pixel phones.
