Wallpaper from Gallery

I took advantage of the downloaded zip file from the Froyo update and grabbed all of the images from the boot animation (the animation is apparently a string of PNG files). I want to make one of the images my wallpaper. All of the images are sized to fit the Dinc screen. But when I choose one of those images to make it my wallpaper from the Gallery, it takes a square chunk from the middle of the image rather than using the full image.

Is there a secret to get it to use the full image for the wallpaper?

I believe if you tap and drag on the edge of one of the sides it will resize the box to become the full size of the image.
