Hi, I'm a bit of a noob to Android and posting on forums in general, so if I'm not following protocol here I apologize.

So I rooted my Evo 4G last weekend using the method found here: How to Root Your HTC EVO 4G (with OTA Gingerbread Update). Basically after rooting, I installed Titanium Backup to remove a lot of the HTC bloatware. It works great and is much faster now that I've removed a lot of extra crap I don't want or use.

Here's my problem; I backed up individual apps before removing them and now I wanted one of them back. Specifically, I was looking to reinstall the HTC Lock Screen so I can use the music player functionality without unlocking my phone. Before you say it, I know there are other music players that allow that, but I prefer the built in music player. Apparently backing up individual apps was not the way to go because now I'm unable to restore (TB just hangs there).

Anyways, is there a way to get this back without flashing a ROM? I mean, is my only solution to flash?

Again, I'm a noob here, so please take it easy on me. :D

Did you by chance backup the phone before starting to remove apps? If not, you can search XDA for a stock Evo 4G ROM and flash that or extract the .apk you are looking for to the sd card root and push it to the device. If you plan on extracting, make sure you download an odex'ed file, since most developers provide deodexed version. There will be problems installing to system/app if the files are not consistent.

To push back to the device, use Terminal Emulator or Root Explorer.

Terminal Emulator:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cp /sdcard/nameofapp /system/app

Press enter after each line and change the nameofapp to whatever the name of the apk is (case sensitive).

Root Explorer (easiest):
In Root Explorer, copy the apk file you want to put in /system/app
Navigate to the /system/app directory
Tap the Mount R/W button on the top right
Tap Paste
Scroll down to the pasted apk, long press on it and select Permissions (you'll see 9 check boxes when you do this)
Check the Read and Write buttons for User, and only the Read boxes next to Group and Others, then tap OK (once you're done, the read/write permissions under the app name should be the same as all the other apps listed (rw-r--r--))
Reboot.

I've gathered the above install information from a quick search. Hope this helps :)
