Warning! Android 10 Beta came with a nasty bug.

It's a bit worrying how many people install beta software without actually understanding what "beta" means.

That's why I don't recommend curiosity seekers to try betas. If someone wants to play with betas it should be done on a secondary device.

It might be a side effect of how so much of what Google does is pretty much a beta, whether it's stated or not. We get so used to using beta versions that we tend to forget these potential problems!

We need beta testers to wrinkle out any bugs before final release to stable version , you have the option to do this or not .

Didn't something like this also happen on some S10's back in July or so?

Yeah, that's actually my point and I don't.

The reason I don't is that I have enough technical know how to NOT install beta software on my main device.

I'm not saying no one should install betas, I'm saying the majority of people that do seem to think it just means you get access to updates quicker. In reality it means you should be prepared for device crippling bugs that result in full data loss and be willing to submit full reports on those bugs.

I agree, most by now should know any beta should be avoided if it's main device.

This is true with just about every piece of software these days.

The funny thing about it is when you opt into a Google Beta you don't always get monthly updates. Instead you usually get beta revisions from time to time and maybe a patch to fix a problem created by the beta.
