Watch Changing Face

I have the Galaxy Watch Ultra and have a couple questions about how it handles faces. When I wear it to bed the face goes to bright and stays that way ever when covered. Works okay but doesn't make much sense.
After waking the face changes from what I set for default to an all red face. Stays that way for awhile then changes to my default. Haven't found a way to change that behavior.

Just wondering if this is normal? Display is set to always on if that matters.

Yes to both. I took the watch off last night and didn't turn it off. Same results with the red screen this morning.
Within your phone's Sleep Mode settings, have you checked to see what it might dictate for how it changes your watch display/face when Sleep Mode is activated? I ended up abandoning my phone's Sleep Mode because my watch's display/face would not set properly, regardless of how I defined for such in Sleep Mode settings.
