The hotspots are tappable areas on the watch that will dimly flash the areas you have set up to launch something either on your phone or on your watch. The gyro effects are areas that will shake when you move your watch. Not sure why theres an option for the phone.

You can test it out to see what I'm referring to. That's how I figured it out. If you apply the gyro effect to a certain image on the watch face it will stutter or have a shaking effect to it. I haven't seen it useful at all tbh.
