I have to say the coolest part about this phone is any time it gets too hot simply turn on water dunk your phone and it becomes cool rapidly!

just stick it in the freezer for a minute then

That's a nice way to cause stress fractures on the glass. Sony Xperia phones had issues with its rear glass panel shattering (probably due to people setting down their hot/warm phones on a cold surface) so I wouldn't tempt fate by "watercooling" your S7/e via placing it under a running faucet. Phone is too hot? Simple solution: tap the power button to turn off the screen and put the phone down on a table or in your pocket for a few minutes. It'll have cooled down just like magic!

I think its a bad idea to do that. It can damage parts if you let it cool fast from a high temperature.

Fantastic idea! Take your brand new phone and pour running water on it for no good reason. Just because it's water resistant doesn't mean you should do stupid things.

Is Samsung going to warranty water damage with the S7? They didn't the S5.

Lets see now, I have a water resistant phone, now I have to play with it in water. What is wrong with this picture ? If it gets a little wet because of rain, fine, but to deliberately take an $800 phone, and dunk it in water to prove it's water resistant to myself or to friends ? No way.

Just to play Devil's Advocate... IP68 rating should mean that one can (briefly) take underwater pictures with the phone. 1,5 meters for up to 30 minutes... Samsung even has an advertisement with the phone receiving a "champagne shower" in it!

This thread is...strange. If the guy wants to drown his S7 then let him. No one complains when people drown other non-water resistant phones for fun or in unique ways, so what's the problem if a guy takes his own phone, that he bought, and pours water on it? It is water resistant. Besides, there's a small degree of risk every time you take your phone out of your pocket that you're going to drop it. You can't completely avoid risk.

Main thing to remember is its water resistant, not proof.
The speaker is water proofed by having a screen with very small holes in front of it.
These holes are small enough not to let water through that touches it.
As per ip68 raiting (meaning 1.5 meters for 30 minutes), pushing water into the speaker port could push water through just like going deeper than 1.5 meters increases the water pressure.

I've seen some websites that label IP68 as water"proof". Most don't but it's more water resistant than the IP67 rating of the S5.
I'm not going to throw caution to the wind and bathe with my S7 or throw it in the pool for the grandkids to take underwater photos
but I won't worry about accidents (as much). My S5 screen is unresponsive when wet. Doesn't seem like it should be if it's water resistant.
Is the S7 screen unresponsive when wet?

IP67 rating:
7 Immersion up to 1m Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion).
IP68 rating
8 Immersion beyond 1m The equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions which shall be specified by the manufacturer. Normally, this will mean that the equipment is hermetically sealed. However, with certain types of equipment, it can mean that water can enter but only in such a manner that it produces no harmful effects.

Is the S7 screen unresponsive when wet?.....

Modern touch screens use the capacitance of your skin to detect touch, water has nearly I'm the same capacitance, so the screen 'sees' touches everywhere. In order for eve phone to not randomly select things onscreen it stops accepting inputs until you wipe off the screen. So I'm certain under water the S7 would stop accepting touch inputs as a 'safety' measure.

I've had my S5 in the bathroom while using my (air) jetted tub with hot HOT water. The steam in the air is enough to make it unresponsive. I figured it was a defect.
