I have been having problems with my G2x's this is the 4th G2x I've had. My first one had a short, second one would randomly flash when I didnt even have the camera on and the screen would flicker like crazy, third one gave me the black screen of death were it was just all black and the phone would not work at all. The fourth one I have now is constantly shutting off on me all the time. I called T-mobile and told them that IDK what the problem is... I don't DL anything crazy and I really love the G2x when it works could it possibly be the battery because that is the only thing that is the same with the phones. So they are sending me out a new battery. Fast forward four days battery still isn't here and I am having the same problems and ocassionally have to take out the battery and put it back in so the phone will power on. This morning I noticed my phone did not charge at all. So I pull off the back and what do I see under the battery and small amount of moisture and the white water damage indicator is now RED!

UGh. I am so annoyed and angry. My phone has never been in water or near water or in the rain hasnt even rained for weeks and weeks now. The thing is if it truly got wet wouldn't the white water damage indicator on the battery be red too? Because that one is still white. I called T-mobile and asked them and they said I would have to do an insurance exchange. I told them I am not trying to exchange the phone, but when my new battery comes in and if it doesnt solve the turning off problem I don't want to have to pay for a new phone when I never got my phone wet. The lady said well maybe when it gets humid but IDK. You will have to do an insurance exchange which is 130 :-$ for a phone I did not get wet :/. Anyone experience this and never got there phone wet. Are there anymore indicators on the phone that would show maybe it didnt get wet like can I ask them to open the phone so they know I am not lying. I am getting sick of dealing with T-mobile now. I always have to fight with them about my rebates, getting phone replaced, bogus charges, ect... Now water damage for non-water damage phone. Ugh, Shoot me now! :(

Sometimes only one sticker is activated, asking why is like asking why the whole floor doesn't get wet if you spill a cup of water...it just doesnt' work that way, and it depends on what happened.

Anyways, not trying to be snarky, but your phone doesn't have a little water-ghost in it. How it happened is anyone's guess, it can be perspiration, condensation, etc. You can say you never got your phone wet till you are blue in the face, but it's basic chemistry...that sticker doesn't change colors if it stays dry, besides you said so yourself "So I pull off the back and what do I see under the battery and small amount of moisture and the white water damage indicator is now RED!" There is a large portion of people who ruin their phone with moisture damage without blantantly dropping it in water.

And just as a heads up, even if it is just a little bit of humidity...well that's bad for electronics, even in small amounts, short term causes shorting and malfunction, possibly a fire if you try to plug it in, and long term it causes corrosion. Anyways,...Pink sticker = Moisture. It's science.

Seems you have extremely bad luck with phones :(

As with the water in the phone, it is extremly possible to get condensation without knowing it. If you leave it in front of the AC for example, then expose it to a warm environment. Also, taking long hot showers with the ph in the bathroom could also do this. Also, placing it next to a cold drink bottle in a bag is possible also.

As the above poster stated, the water-ghost didn't come and sprinkle a little water in it. :D

Not being a smart-alek (maybe a little) but it just seems strange that you've been through 4 G2x's and heading for the 5th.

Perhaps you may want to invest in one of the "sport" model phones?

Regardless, what I will tell you next may seem odd, but, take the cover and battery out, and lay your phone in a bag of rice. Dry rice, not cooked ;), for about a day or so.

The rice will suck up moisture from places on your phone you can't see.

And avoid putting your ph in high moisture places. If you're at the beach, you can get one of the sealed sport bags that hang around your neck. Then you can jet ski all you want!

Or get one of the sport phones designed for active use.

Hope your new battery solves the issue, but I don't think it will.

If I did get the phone wet why would I come lie on a forum and ask this question I wouldnt waste my time. I live in Tx and our humidy has been 75%-85%. It can seem weird to you all you want. When I bought these phones I purchased 3 of them. If I was trying to scam turning them in then I would of exchanged them all. Not just mine because I am the only one having multiple problems. I bought one for my brother and husband and my husband has his original and my brother had to exchange his because it did the black screen of death. All I wanted was a working phone and neither of you must know about G2x's because they are very well known to short out and turn off repeatly and have other problems. I have not had my phone around any water at all. That is what I was saying AT ALL!!! NEVER!!! none... zip... nada.... I don't need your rude remarks or "snarky" comments. I came hear asking for someone in a simliar situation that DID NOT get there phone wet and if this has happened to them. I have nothing at all to hide if I got my phone wet then I would be like oops my bad and my fault there is nothing I can do about it. Maybe my battery leaked they said it might be defective. This is the same battery I had to use with all the phones. They send you a refurbished phone and you have to use your old battery. Maybe the battery is causing the shorts and malfunctions and finally started leaking because the battery has been getting really hot lately. IDK what it was.... But honestly I do not have to lie to anyone on a forum. I didn't get it wet. So like I said in my original post did this happen to anyone else that did not get there phone wet. Thanks! ;)

Well, as I look through the post's, nobody called you a liar. So there's no reason to go on a rant. Although the first responders comments were, well, a bit blunt to say the least.

What was implied, was that perhaps somehow, condensation formed inside the phone somehow. I suppose some phones may be more prone to this than others.

Foe example, it's common in areas which get extremely cold, such as where I live, and if the ph is not protected while outside, condensation will sometimes form when returning to a warm environment. It's a thing I have witnessed several times.

Another instance, is when my oldest Daughter had a habit of making a steamroom out of the shower. Result, 1 new nokia went dead. Cause, condensation.

And suggesting a "sport model" phone, sometimes people have active lifestyles, and don't really think about how the handle their phone on a daily basis. Slipping them in their pockets then sitting down, banging them around, bumping into things, and other types of actions that they're really not aware of.

As with battery "leakage" I suppose if the battery became extremely hot, and I mean extremley, there could possibly be a chemical reaction that would result in leakage, although I think it may not happen with the newer batteries.

Typically in most extreme cases, they just explode or catch on fire. You can look at your battery and see if it has signs of swelling.

If you peruse different sites, you will see the rice method is tested and true.

You have to take some peoples comments with a "grain of salt". It's a public forum, so you'll find all types as with any forum. Throwing a temper tantrum is not in good form, although at times I myself am tempted to do the same ;)

Also, when people post a problem, they shouldn't go on a rampage. This incites some people to respond the same. Grammatically correct english usually helps, although I cut some slack to my friends from other countries.

Again, will a new battery help? Probably not. If it was indeed the battery causing the issues with the other phones, I would suspect that battery would have failed a long time ago.

Considering you have had so many issues with that series phone, I would've opted for a different type a long time ago.

Throwing a temper tantrum LMAO! Sorry, not what I did at all I was just letting you know that I don't need your rude comments when I was just asking a question. When someone says "Not to be snarky" then that is implying that are going to be snarky, but trying to cover their butt and say they aren't going to be when they actually are going to be. Doesn't excuse you being rude. Or like you saying " Not trying to be a smart-aleck" doesn't excuse you from being a smart-aleck and saying its seems like I am trying to get a 5th G2x when you implying I am purposingly damaging all my phones to get a new one. Um why would I do that.

These phones came out in May!!! They are brand new phones suppose to be the best out. So... all I was trying to do when exchanging my phones that were faulty on there own is trying to get a correctly working one. Not trying to scam the system or whatever you "think" I might be doing. As in telling me that I should be grammarly correct. Umm.... Sorry, I did not indent my paragraphs and separate them and had one or two incorrect spelled words. How horrible of me . You are more grammarly incorrect because you should not have two sentences in a paragraph and press enter to another line.

A paragraph consists of 5-7 sentences. Thank you. :D Like you said this is a forum you shouldn't expect everyone to be grammarly correct. I also, don't expect everyone to be "nice to me" lol, but if you are going to be rude then I will tell you, your being rude and there is no need for it because I was asking someone who was in a similar situation not someone who is going to imply I am trying to get a new phone.

Also, T-mobile does not let you exchange your phone for a new different model phone. These phones are 500 and I am sorry I want a correctly working phone when I shelled out so much cash to get phones that are not working correctly. I don't need a sport phone I don't think they even make those maybe a crap-tastic Nokia. Sorry, don't want a Nokia. ;) I have my phone ghost armored and in a case so that if by chance it would be protected from everything. So I am doing the correct steps on keeping my phone dry and this is why I did not understand how my phones water damage indicator was wet. Thus, me asking if anyone was in a similar situation and could maybe tell me how there situation went and their phone got wet.

Wow... lets get petty guys and turn my post into something that does not have to do anything to do with my question. Yes, grammarly. Wikipedia is not 100% accurate LOL umm... I think you should know that (also, the 1 & 2 you have in there is taking you to Notes 1 and 2 it did not mean 1 and 2 sentences in a paragraph lol). Please go to a college website that talks about paragraphs. It will tell you a correct college level paragraph would be 3-5 sentences long, but typically 5-7 is preferred. Plus, he had a lot of run-on sentences. I am not here to point out peoples grammatical errors. The only reason I said something is because he was trying to tell me that my grammar was incorrect when his was also.

I could careless if someone spells something wrong or doesn't use the correct form of punctuations. I am smart enough to put two and two together and understand what they mean. It is not that hard to comprehend. So unless your perfect 100% of the time you should not speak on something that you also do. I could search your name in the forums and point out all the grammatical errors everyone has, but that would solve nothing.

Anyways, I am done with this petty talk so blab all you want about something that has nothing to do with my original question. :-X

A paragraph (from the Greek paragraphos, "to write beside" or "written beside") is a self-contained unit of a discourse in writing dealing with a particular point or idea. Paragraphs consist of one or more sentences.[1][2] The start of a paragraph is indicated by beginning on a new line.

Haha, thanks!! I normally don't respond to things like that, and, I normally don't respond in that fashion. Just couldn't help myself that time.

But, you are right, I'll let it drop without a response like I wanted to. I'll just answer the original post.

No, I have never experienced anything like this.

And, I'm not an expert, but, I assume that there are no indicators that a phone company would put on a phone that would show you didn't get a phone wet, when they have indicators elsewhere to show that it did get wet. I'm surprised the entire inside of the phone isn't made out of indicators.

But, if it got wet, it got wet. Doesn't matter if you don't know how. Now that the indicator shows it was wet, you have to figure out how to solve the problem with that in mind.

If you've had four problems with four of the same model phone, maybe you should call up T-Mobile until you get a really friendly rep, and, try and explain to them your situation. Maybe they'll swap you out to a different phone. A little courtesy with reps can go a long way. I am frequently in contact with business over various problems, and, while it sometimes takes persistence, I always get my issue resolved. And if I had this many issues with a model of phone, I'd make sure they took care of me. Good luck!!

Also, lets hope the new battery fixes the problem, then it wont be an issue.

And, if you are having problems with T-Mobile, maybe you should switch, or at least threaten to to get them to give you a new phone or something, can't hurt as leverage if you call as I mentioned above. But, I have had Verizon for probably ten years now, and, I've never had a problem. The reps are always really friendly and helpful, and, I always get my issues resolved. No problems with getting charges removed from my bill.

One last note, I buy my phones through Costco. That adds an additional layer you can work with. Costco treats there customers really well and they might have worked with you on this, wet indicator or not. I mean, they'll literally take things back years after they've been purchased. I'm not sure exactly how it would work trying to return a phone with them, never had to. But, just a thought.

I had the same exact problem with my wife's Evo 4G. It would randomly reboot and sometimes would not stay on for more than 5-minutes before going into a boot loop. Eventually is stopped turning on and would not charge. A battery replacement did not work and ultimately the phone was replaced by Sprint. What exactly caused the problem I don't know -- Sprint decided to replace it after messing with it after an hour.

The water damage indicator is actually quite common, believe it or not. All it needs is a little moisture to make it change colors. This includes sitting in the bathroom while you shower, carried in a pant pocket for an extended period of time, or exposure to a humid environment. Its a shame that this happens but it does -- the iPhone was notorious for this because of the placement of the water damage indicator within the headphone jack area.

I would continue to fight the good fight with T-Mobile and get them to replace the phone with either a new G2X or something else. You have an ongoing history with legitimate problems and phones being replaced. As a consumer you should have the right to get a new phone with the number of problems you experienced.

Just an FYI. This same thing happened to me. I just purchased the Samsung Infuse 4g. I went to it from an iPhone and well I just hated it. So I went to Walmart which is where I purchased the phone and she opened it up and told me the battery had gotten wet. Now I have had this phone for 12 days. It has NEVER gotten wet. I have also had my iPhone for three years and I am a hairstylist so around water quite a bit and my iPhone never got wet. They are refusing to exchange the phone. I have been with att for 12 years and have never returned a phone. Very disappointing. The moisture indicator is slightly pink. I went to the att store for help and he said it could of just been the steam from my shower if I had it in the bathroom with me. Ridiculous. Also this phone already has a slight scratch in it. I never had a case on my iPhone and never once dropped it or scratched it. This one I have had for 12 freaking days and now its gotten wet supposedly and scratched. I did get a replacement battery from att but the B wrote all over my contract phone was "soaked" not returnable. LOVELY. :-\

Thanks guys for finally answering my question. :D Okay, so its sounds like I am outta luck. That is not fair if steam from a shower sets them off or humid weather. The phone didn't actually get wet to the point were in would damage the inside of the phone, but we are stuck to pay for a new one because one indicator changed colors. I've been with T-mobile for about 7yrs never in my history with them had to exchange a phone until this model. Oh well.... I don't care anymore. I noticed the other day my phone was only shutting down when it was on the charger, charging and I was texting someone back or on a call. It gets really hot when charging so maybe using the phone while it was charging was making it too hot and it would shut down. I dunno. The gingerbread update was suppose to fix the problems.

hey matey, i hear you loud and clear and to answer your original question YES there are people having the same issue.I myself bought a samsung note and first one fried and i lost all my invoices and was never given a reason as to why,now iv had my replacement phone (which samsung f#$ed up and sent me a locked one) for 3 whole months and with in a month i had charging issues which was put down to being a charger, now i am stuck with a phone that apparently has water damage and is all my fault.now i hear what others say about showers and cold weather but i live in western Australia and is a dry heat over here and never have i even thought to take my phone into the bathroom while having a shower.i can say 100% that my phone has not come into contact with water but there is corrosion on the charging port.if it is condensation or anything like that i find it really hard to believe us as a customer should be held responsible.i paid 900 dollars for my phone and was talked into it by the sales rep and he claimed it to be the best on the market.how is it the best phone on the market you cannot even use unless you have your house set to a certain temp just so it does not get condensation like come on its a phone and should be built to with stand simple temp differences,me myself never will i touch another ****ty samsung product ever
