Water Resistance

I remember seeing this test of the Note 7 vs iPhone 7.

That being said. I don't know if I would risk it. I personally use it with wet hands and have dropped mine in the water a couple of times.

I have received the warning not to plug in the charger until the port is fully dry.

This is my first water resistance phone. How safe is it to just bring the phone into the shower with me?
My S7 Edge was my 1st water and dust resistant phone, and I cleaned it in a sink of clan water often and even had beer and whiskey spilt on it at a work party and at the pub both times I just cleaned it with cold clean water and it was perfectly fine.

BUT you are warned, do not just put it under a tap, as the pressure of the tap can push water through the speakers mesh, rather just dip the phone in the water gently and you will be fine.if it's in the shower just ensure it is not directly under the shower head as THAT may force water in to the phone.

Also, do not ever put the phone in Sea Water, sea water will damage the phone beyond repair.

The water and dust resistance is a great but if piece of mind, at least you know the phone will definitely survive a fall into a pool.

I have not put my Note8 in water yet, when it's time to clean it I will do so though.

It's funny - the S6 Active Video a couple of years ago, they had a guy skipping the phone across the water in a Salt Marsh... just a few feet back from the ocean. I thought the same thing... salt is tough on anything. I used to beach camp and my Truck shows the results... I used to take a lawn sprinkler and put it under the truck and camper when we got home and let it run for about 5 minutes in each of about 5 different positions just to get the salt out of all the cracks and crevices of the truck and camper. I never submerged the S7 Active - just salty wet hands and rinsed with the outside fresh water drip on the camper.

Indeed, salt water really does heavy damage. I want to cringe whenever I see some YouTuber do it as I know, even if the damage doesn't show today, give it some time and the errosion will soon rear it's ugly head and the phone will go bananas, it can take months sometimes but it eventually catches up to you, lol.

I worked in Medical Imaging for almost 35 years... the one thing that's worse? Blood... you get blood into electronic circuitry and holy hell breaks loose! Talk about corrosion!

What!? 😂 You learn something new everyday.
I had no idea of that, although it does make sense as blood has a mixture of all kinds of chemicals including sodium, it must really fry the hell out of any piece of equipment it gets into.

Water resistant with tap water. Pool water is chemically treated.

they did it because they knew it was recalled. I didn't do it and wouldn't. just not me. feels good to know that if you drop it in something, who know's what, it has a chance of surviving without issue, just as those taken in the pool to use did. I think I remember someone even taking an underwater picture. not sure.

I really can't believe some are willing to put a nearly $1,000 phone in water.. on purpose! LOL

Why not if it's supposed to have the ability to do so.....we went to a resort this past weekend and took our phones in the lazy river, got tons of great photos of the kids and videos of my husband and brother swimming under water. I enjoyed testing it's under water capability. Will only do it when we do major stuff like resorts or something which is once or twice a year just because it's annoying for me to make sure it's dry (I used a blow dryer) no issues after what so ever.

I use one of the JBL Bluetooth speakers that are waterproof. The phone stays in the other room.

I mean, I can see you taking it out on special occasions. And you're right, it is rated for some water usage. I just can't bring myself to test it.

I was like that at first and I refused to do it with the last phones that had it......it still took 30 minutes to convince me to do it lol but I am glad I did because we made great memories with out kids but also got photos of them ??????
