Water Resistant 50 Meters

Now I haven't done any research on this so I may be wrong. The article mentioned the GW4 having the same ratings. Didn't the GW3 and original GW also have the same ratings? Yet Sammy still rejected warranty returns if they saw water damage? I would not trust these ratings unless Sammy explicitly states that they will honor any and all warranty returns for water damage.

I know Sammy is not the only seller that hides behind the fine print. To me though, they are worse than most because they really push that their devices can be used to track swimming workouts, yet they reject warranty claims for water damage.

I'm not sure if they've prominently advertised the GW5 as suitable to track swimming, as much as they did on the earlier iterations.

You are correct, the original Galaxy watch, Watch3, 4 and 5 are all rated at 5ATM. You are also correct that the rating is basically meaningless because it's not supported by warranty.

Most people also don't seem to realise that these ratings are for FRESH water only. Soapy water has a lower surface tension and the chlorine in pool water and salts in sea water will essentially disolve the seals and even the casing if not cleaned off immediately with fresh water.

Manufactures give water ratings with no warranty period. They could never tell how long or how deep a watch or phone was in so they can't warranty the devices.

If you need that much water resistance buy a watch that does that.

Even though it wouldn't be cover for water damage ill take the risk with this watch , MIL-STS-816 rating also
