I know the Sony SW3 is the best for this and the ZenWatch is IP55. Suposedly the Moto360 is IP67 along with the LG G Watch R. What other ones are water resistant? I'm not looking to swim in them but I don't want to have to take it off to wash my hands either or worry about it if I get caught in a sudden down pour.

I have the ZenWatch, Moto 360, and the original LG G Watch and have gotten them all "mildly" wet at one point or another (washing hands, caught in rain storms, etc.). All three of them have survived with no issues I can see.
With that said, I probably wouldn't be taking a shower or swimming with any of these three IMO.

I've been using a Martian Notifier for the better part of the last year and was always concerned about getting it wet because it just said it was water resistant with no further comment. Unfortunately two of them have broken on me in that time frame. The first time the crown came loose and eventually almost completely fell off and this last weekend one of the lugs broke off my second one when I picked something up. The first was a birthday gift from my wife and luckily she got the extended warranty which I used to replace it. Because I had a problem with it so quickly I got the extended warranty again so I'm going to take it in tomorrow and see if they will honor it again, and if I can I'm going to try to apply the funds toward a different smart watch since I've had so many problems in such a short amount of time.
I'm thinking I'm going to move to Android Wear this time but I'm limited by what Best Buy has available and I'd like to not have to be so concerned about getting a little splash of water on the watch occasionally. I know the Pebbles are all water resistant to several atmosphere's but I just don't like the looks of them as well but I might end up with that anyway.
If you absolutely want to never worry about getting the device wet and can accept the aesthetics of the original Pebble, that would be my suggestion to you. The original Pebble is cheaper, has many options (especially on Android) and can seriously take a beating and keep functioning. I, personally, have put my original Pebble through hell... It has been soaked & completely submerged in water, oil, coolant, soap, dirt, grease, etc. Don't get me wrong, my Pebble is scratched up, but it has survived and has no issues functionally.
If you want some more features, like a microphone, voice actions and a bright color screen, I'd suggest looking at the Android Wear watches. My personal favorite & daily driver at the moment is the Asus ZenWatch. Just be careful and try to treat these watches more like you would your cell phone... In other words, don't go beating it up and wearing it in situations obviously unfriendly to electronics.
One more thing, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the Martian Notifier... I enjoyed mine and, in some ways, think that the simpler Notifier is the best Martian smartwatch out. I personally like it better than their "Voice Command" watches like the Passport or Victory. Sadly, I've always wondered about the build quality of the Notifier due to it's relatively inexpensive plastic construction.

Most definitely. I have a G-Shock I wear when I'm mowing, swimming or working around the house. It is what is exposed to the harsh elements. I treated the Martian as gently as I could a watch so the same would be of whatever the new one ends up being. I'll treat it with kid gloves, I just don't want to worry about it getting an occasional splash.

So I ended up getting an Asus ZenWatch. I'm going on about 24 hours with it right now. There are some things I need to get used to it from the Martian, number one being I need to figure out how to make it vibrate when I get a text message because it isn't doing that right now paired to my LG G3. I'm probably going to replace the watch strap as well, but we'll see how it all works out.

Not sure about the not vibrating thing... I think mine has always vibrated.
Because doing modular stuff is very difficult. And doing it in the small confines of a watch, even more so. I'll believe it when I see it.
I think rickymartinxz has a vested interest in the block modular stuff. He's shilling for it on lots of posts here.
Nice looking band Penguwin. Do you remember where you got it? I'm leaning toward either a black leather band or a silver metal one, with the metal being more likely. I just need some more time on my lunch breaks to get by some stores with watch bands. I saw the Pebble Steel band at Target earlier this week but looked like the pin would be visible through the band so I'm still looking.
Pebble Steel band will leave the spring pin visible in a couple of sections.... No go there
.Also, I get pretty much all my watch bands off of eBay. Yea, you have to wait for the shipping, but the bands are a reasonable price. 22mm straight end watch band for the ZenWatch

Vibrate.....access the menu screen on your watch. The first thing you should see is three icons which let you choose how to be notified. Make sure the icon on the right (all notifications) is selected. This solved the text notification issue for me.
Thanks for the idea LuvMusic but it has been there the entire time. It vibrates fine for Gmail and the native email program as well as for phone calls and calendar events. It just doesn't vibrate for text messages, and the card for texts doesn't show up as a preview on the watch face either. I have to scroll down into the cards to see it. I'm thinking it doesn't like the native text messaging app. I'm using Feel the Wear to have it vibrate when I get a text and that is working for now.
As a follow up to the vibration issue for text messages, apparently it was some issue with the way the notifications worked from the stock messaging app on the LG G3. I switched over to Textra and the notifications from it will pop up on the Zenwatch and vibrate where the ones from the stock app would be there but wouldn't pop up, I'd have to scroll through my notifications to even know I had a text. Hopefully this will help someone else.
