Is there a way to just add the root items to my NS4G without loading the clockwork rom?

I dont want to lose OTA, but still have root access

Clockwork is not a rom. its a recovery. I'm rooted and have clowork but didn't flash custom ROM

Does an app called Gingerbreak work on rooting the NS4g its supposed to root gingerbread?????

This is a developers device. There's no need to use a root exploit such as gingerbreak. Gingerbreak is an exploit run against the kernel to allow you to obtain root permission. Because this is a developers device, the door is wide open ... leave the crowbar at home. Instructions are conveniently stickied at the top of this sub-forum.

No OTAs will stay and you can always revert to original state fairly easy with this phone. Clockword is a recovery partition that overwrites the original anrdoid recovery. This allows you to modify system files, flash roms, wipe cache and davlik. So the way it works is phone first boots bootloader and from bootloader you have an option to boot either recovery or android OS. usually you have to enter bootloader manually via hardware key combo or via adb.
