Way too many cards or notifications (not sure which) for NBA games...ARGH

I've had my watch for about 5 days, and I've managed to find something that is driving me absolutely nuts. The cards or notifications, or whatever the heck they are, are almost all just fine, except for the NBA games it keeps showing. I have Google Now setup to specifically show only Portland Trailblazers games, but my watch keeps getting flooded with EVERY SINGLE GAME being played in the league. No matter how many times I dismiss cards for games I could not care less about, they keep coming back. I have no option to swipe over to select "Block this app", and even if I did I'm not sure I'd want to since that would stop the Blazers games from showing up. I'm pretty sure this is Google Now doing it, and not some other rogue app.

Here is an image of one such zombie card that refuses to stay gone:

Any idea what is causing this, or how I can get rid of this crap? This feeling of having zero control over this fancy new toy that I bought is beyond frustrating. It seems like I'm sort of held captive to the whims of whatever the hell Google says I can see and I better just like it or else.

The first step is to figure out what app is generating the notifications. Next time you get one, don't dismiss it on your watch, look at your PHONE. In the notification shade, long press on the notification and go to app info to find out what app is the source. Then you can block it in the android wear app.

Part of the problem I am having is that these things do not show up as their own items on my notifications bar on my phone. They are Google Now "Cards". If I block Google through the android wear app, I'm assuming I'd lose all the cards it dishes, instead of just the annoying basketball ones.

I did just do a long press on the cards notification on my phone though, it shows one item and says "10 cards" on the right. This took me to Google Now just the same as if I'd held down my home key for a few seconds. From there I could pick one of the offending cards and tell it I am not interested in Golden State Warriors games. The catch is, I've done this before numerous times for basketball cards for teams I don't care about, and it seems to not care that I've said I don't want them. That was a frustration I wrestled with on my phone for awhile that has caused me to not ever really use Google Now cards for anything.. ever. Now it seems to be bleeding over to my new toy, which is frustrating.

Perhaps it's just a feature still being built, but being able to "terminate" certain topics for cards right from my watch would be ideal. Even if Google decides to mix it up a toss new things at me, I still want to be able to say no in a permanent way. :/

Well if it's definitely coming from google now, then you will have to find the relevant setting in the google now app. To test this is the case, I would temporarily blacklist google now in the android wear app settings to see if they stop.

Yeah I get the same... Basketball overload.. From Google now.. It's the one thing which is off base.. My other cards are good.. Haven't looked into how to fix it.. But go into now and in those cards tell Google now that they aren't useful..

I've been dismissing them on my phone by opening up Google Now, select the 3 dots for the cards with the teams I do not care about and then answering just the first question that asks if I'm interested in games for that team. This seems to have helped a bit, since I had done that on Tuesday a bunch, and yesterday I didn't get that many. I think the entire league had games yesterday, so that would have been a good test day to see how bad it could be.

I'm starting to think I need to tell Google Now that I am not interested in every single team other than the Trailblazers to get it to work how I want it to. I guess you can only opt out per team? So stupid.

Oddly, my watch just served up a book recommendation for Neil Gaiman's American Gods book from 2001. What the hell??

Can you disable all notifications from the app on the phone like other apps? That or dumping them all for now might be necessary.
