We will know the release date next week.

Requires subscription it appears to read that.
Can you give us a summary of the important bits, or another source.

The upside down phone. :)

Its a great phone though. I do feel the jello effect was a bit overblown. I couldn't see it until I really looked and to tell the truth its no big deal. I think either some people are more sensitive to the effect or some units are worse than other. I had two units so far and its really hard to notice.

The camera overall is ok not bad but not going to beat out the top tier. I can live with the quality

Two things make this phone shine though, The software experience and dash charge

I love how clean the OS is and dark mode is starting to become a must for me

Too late for me, I bought OnePlus 5 & a couple of hours later the news came out.

Essential is holding "First Look" events in Hollywood and NY in two weeks, invited went out yesterday to a small group of individuals in the press and some individuals that have reservations.

so first look is in two weeks. with mass production going in now I'd say end of August beginning of September

does anyone feel the essential is priced a bit high? it's unknown how well the phone with perform and for the same price you can get the htc u11 6gb model or the s8

ceramic, titanium, gorilla Glass 5, 128gb of storage, 4gb of RAM, snap dragon 835... I do not think it is priced high, in fact I think it's a deal. price out a 128gb version of the S8 ($880) and U11 ($730) with those specs.

Pricing seems low for what we're getting. It's titanium and ceramic with 128GB of storage, has a 5.71" display and one of the thinnest bezels released so far. It's unlocked with an unlocked bootloader and bloat-free, so it should be just as fast as a Pixel. I've not found a phone with as good of an industrial design or feature set at the same price. Everything else is either larger, uglier, more expensive or all of the above.

Also forgot the camera. From what they've shown, the PH-1 camera looks great.

No. It is not in any way high. Titanium shell, ceramic back = not cheap to produce. That bezel-less screen is expensive and hard to make. The phone is high end tech. We all want to pay nothing but when you pay nothing you get nothing.

No concerns on battery from me right now. If I can get through a full day with 25 to 30% battery left as a buffer, I'll be happy.

My KEYone managed a solid two days between charges with an SD 625 and 3500mAh battery. If the SD 835 is ~20% faster and 3040mAh battery is ~15% smaller, that should in theory put me at a full day without much effort.
