webOS Conversation

Newsflash guys!

I set the POWERSAVE governor before going to bed. My battery was at 100%.

I woke up after 8 hours and the battery is at 96%.

Therefore, battery drain while on standby for 8 hours went from 10% (with ondemandtcl) to 4% (with powersave).

This thread is supposed to be a place to discuss webOS, not for bashing precentral mods or the site in general. The thread has been cleaned. Please stay on topic.

Thanks.

As a reminder, personal attacks are not tolerated. A few posts were borderline here. I gave the benefit of the doubt this time.

Thanks, message recieved loud and clear :)

So, back on-topic ... who is holding out on 3.0.2 and who has moved to 3.0.4?

I see no compelling reason to upgrade personally. If I used the webOS side more I probably would for the reported performance hike.

I am still with 3.0.2 until all my patches are update to run on 3.0.4

I am spending most of my time in CM7 so why not.

Somehow I have missed an 'Install Later' (one of several dozen) and my TP is rebooting with the update right now.

So, I can kiss goodbye to stability for a while.

I hope whoever designed this update procedure was the first out the door when HP sacked it's webOS staff. And I hope they are still looking for work and have a massive mortgage to service.

Even Microsoft don't pull this **** on you any more ... <rant off>

Well, at least Uberkernel is now 3.0.4 compatible along with a couple other patches.

Let us know if 3.0.4 feels snappier than 3.0.2. Godspeed!

Well, it's booted back and says it was successful, so that's a plus.

First thing I have noticed is that it's moved some icons around from 'Downloads' to 'Apps' for no apparent reason.

It also, unexpectedly, has not removed moboot.

From a brief play with the browser (the only thing I really use regularly) it appears to be functional but still jerkier than an adult movie screening.

Initial impressions are better than expected, i.e. not broken :)

(Update)
The accelerometer is stuffed in one of the few games I have on there ... No biggy and has been flagged as in issue by others.

I've taken uberkernel and all the patches off and performance seems to be roughly on a par with the tweaked and 'overclocked' (1.5Ghz) 3.0.2.

The hestitation when launching apps seems to be better and web pages render more clearly.

CM7 seems to be completely unaffected.

Anyone with higher battery drain after updating to 3.0.4?

Mine drained 4% overnight (8 hours) whereas with 3.0.2, it used to be 0% or 1%.

Running Uberkernel 1.5.

I'm still running the stock kernel at 1.2Ghz (as a futile self-defeating protest regarding the update procedure :)), I can't say I've noticed an increased drain.

Then again, Suduko isn't a big power draw ;)

I have updated and have no appreciable power draw than what was.
I hear Meg, the new CEO has, at least for now, kept WebOS going. Life is good. :)

Agreed, nobody wants to see an OS with potential die, it's all good for providing alternatives to Android/iOS.
