HI,

First, i am not a native English Speaker, I post there because this Forum is much more active than my own language's, I apologise in advance for incorrect grammar and wording

I ask for help about my Smartphone ( Xperia X F5121 ) as it is working WEIRDLY about its OWN access to internet ( through its own 4G sim card connection )

- the sim card is fine, it gives a good self internet access in other Smartphone

- the phone and its applications work fine when internet connection is shared from an other phone ( using that same simcard )

- the phone + simcard combo can provide full internet access through shared connection to other devices

- the combo Phone + Simcard stopped working fine in "Self internet access mode" a while ago : most application no longer have access to internet, including the Android System itself, Google Chrome, Mails applications, GooglePlay....
BUT Facebook works ( notification + browsing ), and Kindle partially works ( it can download books it already knows i own, but don't realise that i have bought new ones, and doesn't allow me to browse for new ones )

So i have to use a second phone ( + my simcard ) to share internet connection to my own phone so that i can use its application.

I have used this to upgrade most application and Android ( up to 8.0 ), but the problem is still there

i have resetted the network parameters ( on Android ), no effect

Do you have any idea how to fix it ?

Welcome to Android Central! Which carrier is the SIM from?

Normally, I'd suggest trying to boot into Recovery Mode and wiping the cache partition, but from what I can tell on the web, that phone doesn't have the option. You might have to try doing a factory reset.

Your English is excellent, by the way!:)

I live in France, the company which sold the Simcard is "La Banque Postale" ( national mail service, Bank, insurance, communication ), they use the Network developped by "SFR". the simcard had been working in that phone for over a year before the issue

I have checked what the application were allowed to, resetted their parameters, cleared their cache....

The phone fell and split its screen at about the same time this behaviour appeared ( can't be sure, it was Covid time, i didn't use my phone at all ), but i don't think this problem can be caused by hardware issue, the phone can communicate with Internet after all.

No realistic way to trick the phone in sharing its connection with itself ?

I would really prefer not to reset it to factory, my father just did that by mistake to its Laptop... Welcome to 2013 and enjoy Window 8.0

everything work in wifi based shared connection from an other smartphone

the phone + simcard itself can provide shared connection fine via wifi and USB

only facebook works in Self 4G connection

Do you get a specific error message from the apps that don't seem to connect, or does it just say that there's no connection?

Sorry for the delay,

No specific error message, just the "no conection part"

i realised i have a notification from the "download manager" that a pack of 6 files is waiting to be downloaded : 6 " French regionnal parameters "
( are those language thing ? my phone runs in French. Or actual useful communication parameters ? )

they are " too large and require wifi to be downloaded " ( despite the fact i have allowed all systems and all apps upgrade to use my 4 G connection since troubleshooting the issue )

but even when connected by wifi ( all apps works, the system has internet access ) short clicking on the notification has no effect but to close the notification stream

long clicking brings up the notifications setting and how i want to set up the notifications from the Download Manager ( Sound, visual only ? ), useless

i am decently computer literate ( for an young adult user ), but i am quite smartphone illitirate : i can find the Download Folder to see the files i have downloaded myself, but i can't find that " Download Manager", whether as an individual application or a sub-option in the system option

I only have the basic Facebook application

The simcard has >10Go in store, i can check that amount on the phone, i often use those Go to download stuff on my desktop ( this is about 10x faster than my land connection )
