Weird Car Charger issue

Wondering if anyone has come across this with their new note 9. My phone charges great at home. Fast charger charges as expected. Used the phone in the car for GPS for the first time today. I had a S7 Edge previously and had a Samsung adaptive fast charger for the car. Never had an issue. Put in the usb-c cable and connected the Note. Kept getting a message that said it was using more power than it could charge. I tried another cable, same thing. Plugged my Wife's S8+ and it fast charged. I tried her car adapter. Same thing. I cannot figure out why the Note will not fast charge on the samsung fast charge car adapter. Thoughts? Thanks!

Same issue. OEM Samsung fast charge for my car will not fast charge the Note 9. I get the error that it's slow charging every time.

I'm using an Anker QC3 car adapter and don't have this issue. Maybe the car charger you have doesn't have enough power for the N9.

I'm using an Anker QC3 car adapter and don't have this issue. Maybe the car charger you have doesn't have enough power for the N9.

What would happen if you used the latest quick charge to charge it in your car?

It would work fine. It'll only Output the Max that the phone will allow.

So just got off with samsung...."Thank you. As you performed troubleshoot on phone and it is not getting fast charge with the car chargers but working perfect with charger that came with box, Seems issue with the compatibility of car chargers with Note 9." I cant believe they did not test with the car chargers!

I checked the phone in my wife's car and the same thing. Kinda ridiculous there was no heads up that Samsungs car chargers won't work and we need new ones.

It should since it is the Samsung charger that fast charges my wifes S8+.

Just a quick update. I bought the Anker QC3 car adapter from amazon and it works. My Note9 is now quick charging. Really burns me Samsung changed something that made their car chargers useless. Thank you @strikeIII for the suggestion for the car charger!

No problem. Yeah they probably bumped up the wattage needed to quick charge the 4000mah battery.

My white single port car rapid charger works sometimes, my double port black charger won't work at all, both are Samsung. I understand that this phone may require an upgraded charger, but why doesn't Samsung offer such a charger for their own phone, and why wasn't this even mentioned? Seems like a total miss to me

Bought the Anker charger today at lunch and it doesn't work either. Taking this POS phone back to Verizon and getting a different brand and model of phone. Called Samsung tech support, struggled to understand someone with a very thick Indian accent, and their solution was to take it to some service center. I'm not going to beta test a $1,000 phone. This problem along with having Bixby forced on me is enough to get rid of this thing now.

Just wanted to say that I got a replacement from Verizon and all charging works fine. The phone with the issues wouldn't fast wireless charge either, and then in the store wouldn't wireless charge at any speed. It was a lemon, but was replaced, and my new Note 9 performs up to my expectations.

I have a generic Verizon car charger and my note 9 fast charges with it
