Weird external/aux sound problem...

Hey everyone. I searched it up before and I didn't find results so I apologize if I missed it.

So I got my HTC Vivid 2 weeks ago, and have ICS on it. It's quite an upgrade from my iphone 3g for sure. It works great except for 1 thing... I plug it into an AUX (typically for a car) and it works fine and everything sounds great, and when I unplug it, the music pauses like usual. The problem comes after that. I get no sound out of the external speakers and some music (WMA files, MP3s work fine) stops working, and there is no sound from YouTube videos anymore either. YouTube plays, but no sound. The music "plays" but no music (on WMA). Nothing changes in terms of volume or settings or anything, except for the fact I unplug the Aux cable. I took it to Radioshack to ask about it (even though I purchased it at AT&T) but they weren't sure why it was happened. When I restart the phone, it works normally again and everything is fine but obviously that's a hassle to restart my phone over once a week. Any help on this please???

Thanks!

Yeah, that's a bug introduced with ICS. I've read others say HTC didn't test their version of the OS before rolling it out. The fact that the Vivid was one of the first phones with ICS lends some credence to this mindset - perhaps HTC rushed the upgrade. Anyway, you've found the workaround: reboot.

I have the same exact issue, the only solution I have found is that other than reboot is that you have to disconnect the phone a certain way from the car port. I'm not sure how exactly yet but I have gotten it to work normally a few times after using it.

Just to be clear, this affects headphones, too. It seems if I'm listening to audio and an alarm goes off, I'll end up with problems. Additionally, if the headphones become disconnected while audio is playing, there too it seems to get hosed.
