Hi All,

I have another issue that I can't figure out and you all have been so helpful that I'm hoping you can help me fix this.

Every 25-27 minutes after the hour my phone makes a short and small beeping sound.
Some sort of notification that I can not identify and the sound is different then my sound I set up as such.

The only thing I see when it happens is the little radar flashing for a second which I assume is the GPS icon.
I looked through pretty much all settings but I can't find it.
I also looked at the GPS stuff and don't see anything either.
This is making me nuts cause it makes me look at my phone to see if I got anythingand then there is nothing.

If you have any ideas that would be great.
Oh it started after I updated the software to 4.0.4

Thanks,
Dukeblue91

not sure what could be causing this but could be a default audio notification by 'sync' when new items have been downloaded to the phone

Hi Walcolm,
I checked that too but that wasn't it.
It is really driving me nuts :(

See if turning off GPS causes it to stop. If so, it narrows the options. Facebook?

I posted almost this same thing a week or two ago. Mine didn't have a pattern to it. Just sound without notification. It ended up being the yahoo mail app. I had disabled being notified of emails in the notification bar but forgot to turn off the sound when I got a yahoo email. Was driving me crazy too... Hope you figure it out.

Loraqe,
I think you are onto something here.
I turned the GPS off and it did not come on this time.
Also I took another look at the Facebook app and disabled the setting for the Message location part and hope this is what is causing it.

Well that wasn't it either as it came on again, it is GPS related but I don't know what app is doing it.
I now turned off all notifications in Facebook and will see if this will do it.

Hi,
I had a similar issue. The sound notifications I got were caused by the near field communication (NFC).
NFC is used to exchange information between devices and chip cards in very close range (few centimetres) and is used for example for payment systems, public transport ticket systems and so on. I used to put a chip card into my phone pocket and the phone would start trying to communicate with it. Took me a week to find out the sound was related to that chipcard, but after disabling NFC in the settings or removing the card, the sound was gone.

As you can see there are a lot of different causes for those notifications, the only solution I see is to disable all the different services and observe when the notifications stop... Or does anybody know about some kind of log file where one could find more informations about why a sound was played?

Hi,
I had a similar issue. The sound notifications I got were caused by the near field communication (NFC).

I'm having the same issue. I use a wallet case and keep my cards in it. Anytime one of the chipped cards are pressed against the back of the phone it makes these sounds. Wouldn't mind getting to the logs to check.

Thank you so much. I also have a similar problem and took me a month to find out which noti sound was that. It's so annoying and I had to make my phone silent all the time. Now, I found out the answer. As you said, I put a chip card in the phone cover these days. Now I made NFC disable and the sound is gone. That annoying noti sound rang every single second and I uninstalled many apps to figure out which app make this problem. Omg.. I have to install those apps again. Thank you so much..

I have SOLVED THIS ISSUE!!!!!

If your phone is making this weird notification noise,
Go to Settings, Sounds & notification, and change your DEFAULT Notification sounds to silent.
Sounds easy enough right..... Wrong.. for some reason, with the HTC phone, the sounds are still defaulting to something else, even when it is checked on Silent in Default Notifications.

TO FIX THIS, I downloaded a Ringtone maker/ Notification maker and made an ACTUAL Silent sound. I saved it where the other Default Notifation sounds were. And then changed it to this sound. (The one I created.)

Now, All I hear are the birds in the wind and crickets in the night. I AM SO HAPPY TO FIX THIS..... and trust me, I tried EVERYTHING.... I even tried disabling EVERY App including the System service apps..... nothing worked....
Until now!

Let me know if this worked for you!
