My phone just rang showing my phone number as the calling number. The call screen, because the calling number is my own, let the call through. I didn't answer. How is that possible? Thanks.

Spam callers can fake any number they want. This is why I love Android's call screening.

Yes I agree but when they use my own number, that's scary. Because of that, my screener won't work.

That's a little unnerving! Perhaps alert your provider, to see if they have any options for you.

Definitely spammers. Although I've never heard of them using the number of the person they're calling!

I'm not an expert on the technological possibilities for scammers, but I figure this particular attempt may have just been rolling through numbers sequentially with a spoof that matches the outgoing number. It's probably not that anyone knows it's your number specifically.

I do know I get a lot of scam calls from my own area code. The attempt is to make the number look like one you know, or might know. I suppose they're hoping a lot of people don't know their number these days. My daughter, who is almost 14, asked us hers the other day. She's on her phone nearly constantly.

I've gotten a few calls coming from MY number. I ignore them.

I think you are onto something. I keep getting calls from 'Rogers Comm' and am quite positive it's not my carrier. Very annoying. Scammers will try anything to get you to pick up.
