Weird pie behavior

So I just got a new pixel 2xl, and I'm noticing the strangest behavior on pie. (I've owned a 2xl previously and it never did this on Oreo) I have some sites bookmarked and saved on my home screen. Whenever I tap on those bookmarks there's a good 2-3 second delay where nothing happens, and then it finally opens the page. Not sure if it's an issue with chrome or with pie itself, but it's very strange.

Also, as an aside, anyone else thing Google's version of gesture navigation is hot garbage? The whole swipe up and get stuck on multitasking when you want the app drawer breaks the whole UX concept.

Haven’t experienced this behaviour with webpage shortcuts. You cannot uninstall Chrome so I would do a factory hard reset.

Yes the new gestures are annoying but you get use to it very quickly.

I find if you place your finger on the icons above the search-bar and pull up to halfway or more on the multitasking cards it works pretty well, for opening the app drawer. Works well one handed too.

Just did one and still does it. It's also not consistent. Opened right up today. Yesterday, not so much, even after a restart.
