Re: Wierd Shut-off problem
I think I found an odd yet effective, temporary/lasting fix... I'll know as my day progresses. Lemme give you the info:
I got my Samsung Galexy S2 Epic 4G several months ago, around April 2013 and it's run like a dream. In the last month or so, I found a particular APP that takes a lot of processing power and made my device heat up for extended durations of use (its a gaming APP). It was after using this APP for a couple of weeks that my GS2 started having all the symptoms all of you are having... So I got my phone replaced with a replacement of the same model, and this one even had the JellyBean update. Redownloaded all my apps, continued playing my game, replacement overheated one time, and a week or two after the replacement ALSO starts having power button failure. I raged and searched for answers online of what Samsung/Sprint/AT&T have said about this and I have found no reasons at all.
I think now I know why.
The overheating threw me off. I assumed that it was the new app was to blame for overheating my motherboard and damaging it, not thinking that if the motherboard was damaged the whole phone would go down: a motherboard is a circuitboard, and if one component throws off the flow of electricity, the whole thing goes down.
Just before I started having the power button issues, I recently got a job at Home Depot, working in the Garden Department. Naturally, I keep my phone in my pocket, Otterbox protecting it.
Well the gel part of my otterbox has been worn down over the months and has allowed some parts of the phone to be exposed...
The excess debris from my job just may of found its way into my pockets and into the fairly delicate crevices of my device...
And my blowing air straight at the power button while pressing it as fast as possible suddenly allows me to lock my phone normally, hold and turn it off as normal, and in general stopped it from turning my phone off repeatedly.
The reason there is no solid answer for this is because it depends on what size debris is stuck inside and if it can be dislodged or not. Worked for me- Goodluck everyone
