Weird Verizon dead zone knocks out my GNex

I spend a good deal of time each day in a grocery store where my Verizon signal is non-existent. On my previous phone (DInc) I would get a weak signal but still be able to send and receive data.

Despite being less than 50ft from a Starbuck's free wifi, the phone will not connect. The wireless and the cell signal icons are greyed out. When I step out if the store it all comes back to life.

What could be going on here?

Weak radios/antenna. Known issue with the GNex.

They are probably trying to block cell signals. It is a conspiracy to prevent you from checking prices online. No, not really. I used to have that problem with Sprint all the time, but recently switch to Verizon. I get service everywhere so far.
