Well, how many of us are going to wish we waited for the Note 8

Re: Well, how many of us are going to wish we waited

I'm fine with my S8+. I still have an old Note 5 that works completely well for anything I would use a Note for.

The S8 is the phone I plan to use for the next year. I went overboard buying multiple phones over the past few years. Time to settle down and buy one every year.
This is my issue. After having the S 5 for 11 months Ive been going through phones like crazy. Never having the phone more than 6 or 7 months. It gets expensive. I have to keep the 8+ at least a year and a half. I'm pulling for two.

Re: Well, how many of us are going to wish we waited

Are we going to wish we waited for the note 8?. I'm thinking I won't regret getting the S8 plus, I don't think the note 8 will be that huge of an upgrade. I think Samsung overdid themselves on the S8 plus.

The note line isn't what it used to be. Now that it shares specs with the s line I don't see it as an upgrade or better phone. Highly doubt I'll ditch my s8+ for a note 8.

it's called T-Mobile Jump. I'm using it once more before cancelling it, and it will be for the Note!

I love Jump, I can upgrade to the Note 8 then the s9 if I want to. It's great having options

Not to come off as an a** but I could care less. I'm really enjoying the s8 right now. Plus I'm not sure that I'm ready to enter $1k territory for a phone.

Re: Well, how many of us are going to wish we waited

From everything I've read, the note 8 is not really much of an upgrade over the S8+ smaller battery is probably a deal breaker. Dual cameras is meh. I do miss the S pen but not enough to sacrifice battery.

With the phones getting so expensive I think more people will start holding onto phones longer.

I've been saying that the note 8 could be Samsung's first $1,000 plus phone if it has all the specs they keep talking about.

In years past, am thinking the Note line was $100 more than the S Edge line?
For example S7E @ $749 & Note 7 @ $849.
This year the S8+ occupies that $849 category(at least @ AT&T).
So $949-$999 for the Note 8?

I went from having the iPhone 5S for over 4 years to my S8+. I have no interest in upgrading anytime soon.

True, but leaked specs are showing 128 GB memory and 6 GB RAM, dual camera. Those specs could push or probably will push the note 8 over grand. Double the memory is usually always a $100 bump alone. So that is why I say with reported leaks, will have to wait to see official.

Apple gets away with over grand phones easily and as far as I'm concerned the note is a better phone. Samsung sees Apple getting away with it, so why not.

Just move the S series launch to the summer, problem solved.

Or, release an even better flagship with an S-pen and duel camera in the fall.

Let's not forget that the Note line has it's own loyal fan base that doesn't necessarily want to settle for a Galaxy S.

Technical stuff aside, what would help sales IMHO is not do what Apple is doing by offering more for less (as long as it more than covers the cost to make the phone). The thing about Apple I don't like is everything is costs more than the alternative; MAC Book costs more than most decent laptops; iPad cost more than the alternatives; to get MS Office on a MAC costs more than getting it for Windows. Then again this is based on prices I remember from years ago; I stopped keeping track of this stuff in the last few years so what I know might no longer be true.

You buy a Galaxy Note for its S Pen.

If you don't have a use for the pen, the S-line device is probably the way to go.

Especially since the Note line right now mirrors the Galaxy S-line. Although this year, we might see a new camera setup.

Right...S-Pen and the S-Pen software, which isn't found on the S8. How many times did we hear last year, that Note fans simply hated what was missing on the S7 Edge when they had to switch?

For me? No. The only thing I would really want from the Note 8 is the (possible) dual cameras. To me an S-Pen isn't worth $1k+ for a new phone .. especially when I mainly used it on screenshots to draw stuff (and I can do that on my S8+).

People who regret not waiting on the Note 8 will probably say the same in 6 months and wish they'd waited on the s9. Samsung have us right where they want us

That's exactly how I see it. If the S pen isn't of use to you then the S8 plus will probably be what you want.

I was one of those people. The S8 plus is no where close to the S7 edge, bigger screen, better software, a lot of the same features as the note. Basically I feel the S8 plus is the note 7 without the S pen. I found I don't need the S pen, I can do what I did with the note on the S8 plus with my finger just as good now, that wasn't the case with the S7 edge.

I'm not going to wish I'm going to get the Note 8. I always upgrade from the S to the Note series. Then will upgrade to the S9 and to the N9. Having a new device every 6 months keeps my tech addiction fed..

Maybe what they should do is just combine the Note series and the S series, and call it something else. Release it in a small and a large size. They both come with a pens. If you want to use the S pen, it's there. If not, don't use it. Simple as that.
