Well, returned the G3

I just couldnt justify paying extra compared to the G2. Its a great phone but just not enough wow factor. G2 is good enough for now plus I know there will be some crazy cool new phones coming in the next few months. It was just not far ahead of the curve compared to G2. Interface and camera were nice though.

I hate to tell ya, but if you are always chasing the "best" phone, you are always going to lose. There's always going to be a better phone in out "in the next few months". But, you decision, not mine, I'm enjoying my G3.

I think that's part of the point eh? I think we can agree the G2 rocks and IMO still holds its own with the best (top 10 I'll say)... The G3 is an improvement but worth chasing and spending $200? Then what happens when G4 comes out... Spend $200 chasing a few improvements? Can;t be chasing the better phone every year.

If the G3 had some new tech that just completely separated it from the G2 like night and day that would be another story. But I have to say the G2 is good for another year at least. I think most phones could go a couple of years and not be totally outdated or outclassed.

I'm saving my money on the Moto 360!

Understandable, but I think the G3 is a huge improvement over the G2. Of course, I only had a G2 for about a month last year.

I can see your point if I had the G2 it would a hard sell to upgrade for a hand full of improvements (Both my mom and sister have the G2). I came from a S3 which was a great phone and I even hesitated on actually getting a new phone cause it ran fine, but then I played with the G3 and loved it.

Technology is my hobby. That's what I tell my wife. I don't spend my money on other hobbies. So I spend on a new phone every year and I don't regret it cause I love it

My G3 has 96 gigs of memory and three gigs of ram with my 64 gig sd card. That's incredible for a phone. I have 12 movies, all my music and I've only used a forth of my memory. I seriously considered the G2; however, in a year, it's going to have updates that could potentially cause it problems. I love my G3.

I agree. I want the latest and greatest. I would have to pay 30 bucks extra a month but I have a baby on the way and I just didn't feel like a major need to upgrade. If I was single I would be all over that G3 lol.

The irony is that my poor G2 screen cracked while I took G3 for a test drive. Now I'm stuck with my wife's old s4 while she has the s5 and she doesn't care about anything except for camera which she doesn't know how to use.

I miss tap on and rear buttons lol

You all brought up great points that I totally agree with

I have jump 1 with T-Mobile so every 6 months I get a new phone. I do find the g3 a little laggy compare to the g2 which had zero lag in my opinion. I left the galaxy line because of the crazy amount of lag they have. If LG doesn't fix this with an update this will be my last LG phone. I come from iPhone which had no lag only a little when they got to their year mark. To me a phone with no lag is very important and when it comes time to upgrade again, if LG doesn't fix this, I might very well go back to iPhone to the new 5.5 screen. That's the reason I left iPhone because of the small screens. LG better step it up!

I preordered on ATT and test drove it for 13 days, took it back but I liked the device. I paid $628 for it outright. I liked just about everything about the phone with only a very few issues, but it is that time of year where I am looking at the fall lineup coming. I just have this gut feeling that the 805's are coming soon. I know about the always chasing the next best thing but Sammy and LG are going to bring QHD, 805's soon and I just want to have cash in hand if one appeals to me! If it was March I would not feel this way but is almost August and can "live" with my Nexus 5 till at least Oct/Nov. I still want to see what the moto x+1 and Nexus 6 will bring.

Enjoy your G3's folks she is a serious flagship device!

Sorry you couldn't hold on to her but I understand! To be honest with you, the ONLY way I could see another device pulling me away from this one (G3) is if the battery life is exceptionally longer than what I have now. If its marginally better, no big deal. If its a lot better.....THEN I'll def have buyers remorse, lol! Even though we all know the 805 will be better suited for these new QHD screens, I don't think it will be much of a significance. I do think the 810 (and higher) will be worth switching over to most likely in next years devices. Time will tell! :)

Fully understandable if that voice was nagging then you just wouldn't settle, I have drugs for them voices lol seriously though yes Lg is already releasing the prime or whatever variant (Korea only) of the G3 with the 805 SOC, am I bothered no (well a tiny bit perhaps) but I tend to be if the G3 is working to my satisfaction then the 805/810 ect makes no difference.

I'm then content to use this for a year or two then upgrade but knowing me I will be looking closely to next years G4 :-)

Good luck with your future purchase though whether that will be the Note 4, Nexus 6 ect :-)

I just bought 4 new phones that I don't need. But I want them, and love them. :) Btw, I'm not married and can do whatever I want. :p

The Nexus 5 is a nice phone (except the battery) and you shouldn't be ashamed of holding onto it until later this year.

My only reservation is the tech ho in me is curious to see what the Note 4 brings

Sorry, but that don't make no sense.
Makes plenty of sense. I bought the G3 from Amazon, shipped overnight, the day it was available. 4 hrs later, I boxed it up and returned it.

I mean, the SD slot and removable battery are nice, but not really essential IMO. The font issues (shadowing, etc) and poor low light camera performance were not worth $579 to me (no, it wasn't defective). Honestly, it's a nice iteration, but not OMG GANGBUSTERS BEST FON EVAR like the internet is making it out to be.

I ended up getting a BNIB G2, never even opened for $250 locally. It is incredible. I won't use it for 3 yrs or anything, but it's a highly capable bridge to the next Nexus or Note 4. Or 360.

The G3 is a good device, but not the next coming. Especially at ~$600 (I don't do contracts or lease programs, BTW). Sold my used Note 3 for $380 and paid $250 for the new G2 w/2-day old receipt from AT&T. Good by me until the next best thing! Hah. But unfortunately the G3 isn't all that, IMO. It's an iteration, not a revolution. The screen is a gimmick - great job spying on Samsung! Throw in all the things and count profits?! ?

Nah

Edit: this is a photo from my G3 before I returned it. Terrible (yes, I tried to LAZR focus several times).

My boy always bothers me about getting married and having children.

A fews days ago he wanted to sell his iPhone 5S so he can buy the S5. He ask me to help him sell it, not comfortable selling on kijiji, IDK? Anyways, he dropped it because the wife said no. I mocked him that day, pretending that I'm calling my wife asking for permission if I can buy the G3. LOL

He had this look that he should've never mentioned the wife. :)

Yeah it competes very well. G2 free on contract, LONGER battery so removable isn't as important, VERY good 1080p screen with wider contrast than G3, VERY good camera and with more manual controls, and there are some nice themes you can install on it.

G3 has a tad better ergonomics and a more modern looking UI, but just not really overwhelming me....

Oh and I have a 32GB Monster Advanced OTG flash drive now, it does a great job moving data around. Full size USB on one end and micro USB on the other. With how Sammy devices burn up SD cards and the ones less than $1/GB mostly unreliable, I looked into OTG flash and I like what I found. Especially if my next phone after the Flex is a 64GB model, I may never use MicroSDXC ever again....

I must be doing something wrong, neither of us feel obligated to ask or receive "permission" of the other or tell the other why. No wonder single guys get the wrong idea about marriage! Over two decades now and if either of us said "no you cannot" to the other, it'd be met with laughter. Within reason obviously. I'm not running around buying Ferraris and saying "suck it up, I felt like it" lol. Stating the obvious again here, but discussing who gets what for the hobby pot isn't the same thing, but that's not what I just finished reading above because I just saw the words: ask, permission, and tell.

Even a single person doesn't (or at least shouldn't) be messing with their own bill payments and running up their credit. You can only do whatever you want as a single if you have your finances in order. Why would being in a relationship change that unless one of you has chosen to behave as a subordinate?

LMAO

She never said I can't or shouldn't. In fact she's the one with the new s5 while I'm now using her old s4 because I broke my poor G2 screen. I was just trying to be a responsible husband and pass on the G3 until something more compelling comes out. ....and I can't stand the s4!! Lol

But if I was single I wouldn't think twice about keeping the G3.

With how Sammy devices burn up SD cards...

I've never had any of my Samsung devices burn through SD cards. I honestly think this has been over blown and most of it being user error.

Putting apps/app data to sd cards causes corrupt files when the sd card dislodges from a hard impact, it causes users to have problems. Simple fix....don't put apps/app data in your sd card.

Also, just a few weeks ago, I had an issue with my 64gb c10 SD card on my S3 where it wouldn't recognize and not mount it after I had taken it out and installed a new rom. Drove me NUTS!!! I must of formatted the thing at least 20 times!! Nothing! I started to get the feeling that the stories online about Samsung devices burning through SD cards was true! I didn't give up because I knew I had not damaged the card in any way unless reformatting damages your card. One day, I finally Googled the right words that exactly described my situation and sure enough, I came to a thread on XDA where a user stated that all he did was 'blow in the sd card slot like an old Nintendo cartridge'! Seemed silly when I read it but I did it....blew in that sucker HARD....put the sd card in and BAM.....I was back in business!!
