What am I missing? They look the same to me. (Or maybe it's that the differences don't show up in a web browser because the resolution is too low.) Or am I seeing a little more saturated color in the wallpaper after editing?

You've essentially made the colors worse by editing.

Well it looks less washed out and more saturated. Looks better IMO. I want a want a way to increase the saturation of the g3 screen

If you have the above saturation set while viewing a picture of a person they would look red/orange.

You can do this very easily with a kernel tweaker. I've done it on mine, but found that it distorts too much color.

Yes. I do not know of an alternative way to edit these values. I have not really looked, though.
