What am I missing?

So I purchased the 2200mah moto power pack for $34 the other day. As you know it has two options for operation, one of them being to keep the phone at 80% supposedly to save the phone's battery. What I don't understand is that when charging it charges the phone to 100% and since the mod takes longer to charge, the phone must be on the charger, while at 100% for hours after it has reached it's maximum.

Kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me unless I'm missing something.

All of my Moto Mod batteries start charging when the phone hits 80%. It's slow at first, and they charge faster when the phone hits 100%, but they start charging around 80

Scott, I guess what I'm saying that if the intent was really to enhance the phone's battery life the phone would stop charging at 80% and not go up to 100%.

True, that would be nice to have a Setting or option for that. I kind of like the Incipio Mod for being able to charge wirelessly off the phone and the Turbo Mod for being able to charge off the phone with a USB cable. But the Moto Power Pack is nice for being the lightest and thinnest

It's actually not designed to "prolong the life of the internal battery", although to a point it does. The 80% is to maximize the power of the battery pack. It takes considerably more energy to charge a battery from 80-100%. So by letting the phone battery sit at 80%, it allows a much longer combined runtime with both batteries. You can see this yourself by setting it to keep the phone at 100% and seeing just how quickly the battery pack discharges to keep up with it. It has a much lower drain just keeping the phone at 80%.
