I'm aware of the function that is available on the phone: Settings > Services > Accessibility > Talkback. However, by enabling this, everything I do on the phone is announced out loud. For example, I tap the Home icon the phone announces "Home Icon", tap the Gmail icon I hear "Gmail",.... I don't want that. I just want my SMS read to me when I receive them, but cannot read them, like when I'm driving. FYI, my Nexus 6 is on TMobile.

Thanks,

"Agent". It adds Moto X type controls including voice commands

I don't think that there's a single app that works better. You can set it to read any of your text messages back to you based on Bluetooth connections. You can route it to a voice call stream or the media stream while connected to Bluetooth. This is an application that I use everyday. It's pretty damn good! That is assuming you're connected to Bluetooth while driving, but if not, then this will be of no use to you.

Hi guys, check messageLOUD, it does exactly what you are asking: Texts, emails and WhatsApp coming within a week.

I have used several but this one is the best BY FAR. Sms, my car, and Me. Read out texts through Bluetooth extremely nice.

"AGENT" is fantastic. Big thumbs up for it. I had Trigger for quite a while and discovered the dev made a user friendly verson with the five most common tasks, and added the voice function while driving. Works like a charm. Plus, you can set it up to send a reply text automatically saying you are driving and will get back to them when you can. Or not have it do that. Plus, it has four other great modes. I use three and love them.
