what apps and updates do I need on Galaxy Note 3 to keep running?

Heard about Android O update but don't know if I need it or how to.

Android version 5.o

Unfortunately the Note 3 will not be updated to Android O, just like it wasn't updated to Marshmallow. The only way to do it would be to get a custom ROM that supports the Note 3, but that won't happen until O is finally released and even then, with the Note 3 being a much older device, finding one is going to be hard.

Note 3 is a legacy device that still has issues with lollipop (ex: GPS not locking on to signals, etc), I wouldn't expect it to do well with Android O

Note 3 was a great phone until it got 5.0, now it's buggy and has horrible battery life, wish it got updated to 5.1 to fix the problems.

Device hasn't had an update since 2015 when it was 2 years old, most phones quit getting updates after 2 years.
