I'd definitely go for the stock messaging app. I've tried GoSMS, Text Plus, Hangouts, Handcent and a few others. I find third party apps, to unnecessarily use battery life and data more than they are worth. I prefer not having instant messaging in my way. Things I have to worry about with 3rd party: Do I have internet; Am I signed in; Did what I message, show up exactly as I intended it to on the other person's phone; Does the other person have or need to have the same app downloaded; Are both notifications in the app, AND on the phone turned on? Simple and easy stock messaging app, without the bloatware, for me.
