What are screen overlays?

There is a screen overlay on my phone and every way I have tried to change the permissions like my phone keeps telling me to do, It doesn't work!!!! Why???

Hello Judy, welcome to the forums. There are many reports about this same issue. For most people the problem was a third party app (Clean Master, File Manager by Cheetah Mobile, booster apps, screen dimmers, etc). Take a look at this thread.

You can just temporarily disable whichever app is causing the Screen Overlay and then re-enable the app after you change the permission
