I'm eligible for upgrade July 1, I am a Sprint Premier Customer.. Anyone think I can convince Sprint to let me upgrade a month early on the launch date? Any Idea on how I can Accomplish this?

yes just call up customer service tell them u were told ur upgrade date would be moved up to june 1 because of many dropped calls and issues with the network and rude agents and throw a few other complaints i the mix and it may work cuz it did for me last year to get the pre and the hero

good luck

In the same boat. Wrote Customer Service and they said no. I was a bit upset at first, but I have a good feeling that Froyo could see a release by then as well as 2nd batteries etc, so that's my silver lining! :-)

The bad news is I talked a couple people to get the Evo, so they'll have theirs before me, which sucks! Especially, since both were going to get iPhones and didn't really know much about Android until I showed them all the cool things besides apps the Evo could do. I should get a commission!

I was thinking of going into the store and asking one of the customer service reps.. does anyone think it'll be a better idea to call up customer service. BTW thanks for the quick responses, I really appreciate the help and ideas.. :D

No need to make up silly lies. All you have to do is "CALL" customer service. Tell them you would like to purchase the Evo on June 4th but your contract is not up until July 1 and request for them to move your upgrade date up----they will do it.

agree with flyonthewall on this one. Sprint WANTS you in an Evo. They not only benefit from the Evo tax :P , but they would love to be able to say "We sold 500,000 Evos" (insert favorite imaginary number). Bumping an upgrade 29 days is the smart business move

they wouldn't take me any closer than June 18th.. so good luck.. really :) I just decided to add a line to my family plan lol

from what I've been told, they can usually move it up about 2 weeks. Their maybe less ethical methods to get them to do it, but I would just call and be honest.

Yes, Sprint will only be willing to move the upgrade date closer by 14 days. I am eligible for upgrade on July 1st also and they said they are willing to move my upgrade date to June 18.

Also, if you're worried about getting the phone when you're eligible, you can go into a Best Buy and preorder the phone and just buy it when you're ready. I preordered yesterday and let them know I can't fully buy it until June 18th and they had no problem with that.

yeah why wouldn't Sprint want you to -

1. give them an extra $10/month!
2. lock you in to a contract for another 2 years!

That's not true, my upgrade wasn't until 8/1, but I called and they moved it up to 7/1. They told me the most they could move it up was one month.

I'm going to use the upgrade for my 3rd line to get my Evo on 6/4 and then on 7/1 I'll upgrade my 2nd line.

And thats a swing and a miss for me guys... Called up Customer car, he redirected me to a sales representative (he said the sales team had the only power to do anything with upgrades), Talked to sales rep, and basically told me they couldnt do anything for me now, but to maybe call back on the date the phone drops to see if they can do anything then.. :( oh well.. looks like I have to play the waiting game..

Do you mind letting us know what you told the Sprint people to move your eligibility up a month? I read on SprintUsers that 2 weeks is the most they'd move it and that's what I was told calling cust service, but I'd like to try again to have some move it 1 month.

I called retentions directly. I had already been given a "no" from the online chat people. I just asked politely and guess I was lucky to have someone who was willing to do it for me. I ldid go into the spiel that I had been with Sprint a long time and that I pay my bill on time every month and I would be paying more for 2 Evos and if they didn't let me I was going to go elsewhere when my contract was up. I did not get forceful or yell or get angry. I just told them politely.

they didn't even off me a two week move.. :(

That's too bad. I was also told that 2 weeks is the most they can do. I had mine moved up from June 1st to May 18th so I could pre-order a 2nd EVO from RS.

I am in the same boat got the PRE in mid June, Radioshack let me preorder and said I was good to go.

| talked to the Sprint rep services my company, we don't have an account with them, they just come into sell directly to the employees. I'm eligible July 1st, but the earliest he could guarantee me was June 18th. He said that if anything changes and he can get an evo in my hands any earlier, he'd call. He got me the Pre a month early last year, so I'm hoping he'll be able to pull some strings and do the same with the Evo.

I don't know if this helps but here you go:

My upgrade is not due till July 1st and my fathers isn't due till next year (something happen where they put me as the primary). Anyway, my pops chatted with a live agent regarding the Evo. I was expecting a "you have to wait till your upgrade month" but surprisingly they said if me and my pops are willing to renew our contracts we can get both phones for a total of $400 (plus tax) in June.

Now I never tried to upgrade before I was due, so I'm not sure if you're allowed to do this as long as you renew your contract or they just want people to hope on the Evo train as much as possible.

So in short, I'm not sure if this is normal or something they're just letting happen for this one time, but thats what I was told.
