What are you listening to on your HTC One (M8)?

Re: What are you listening to?

I like the stock music app but I am spoiled with an HRT Microstreamer. For a phone, the onboard DAC of the HTC is pretty ok but it just can't compete at all with the HRT microstreamer. So I use USB Audio Player Pro (which has a pretty bad GUI TBH. Wish it resembled the stock HTC music player) and Shure SE535 earbuds.

I listen to a lot of metal/rock/folk. (deathmetal/blackmetal/sludge, neofolk rather than using generic terms).

I bought a 64 gb SD class 10 uh-1 SD card and usb 3 express card. Took about 20 minutes to transfer about 50 gigs of flacs and music to the card. Previously to that I had a fake 16gb sd card that was really only a 7 gig card and it would take about 2 hours to upload 7 gigs worth of data only to die after that point. Piece of crap.

I just drag and drop the flacs to the card while it's in the phone. I never saw any point in using an external app. They annoy me more than anything (I hated itunes and it was what caused me to sell my iphone after only a few months).

Hey thanks, I was wondering how I could play flacs and aiffs, but I was always too lazy to look. USB Audio Player Pro does look pretty bad though. What would you suggest for earbuds around $200-300? I use V-Moda Crossfade LP2 over ears, and I'm looking to upgrade to the M-100s this year, but I don't have a decent pair of earbuds. I have way too many hobbies to afford to get the best of the best; I still only have one lens for my camera, I just started collecting some vinyl, but nothing to play them on, and I'm using an older TV as a monitor for my brand new desktop computer station; but, I'll spend money to make sure I get quality. I've never met an external program for music management I've liked.

Yeah. USB audio player pro works pretty perfectly as intended. It will play back audio files bitperfect (it will output a 96khz flac file at 96khz instead of down sampling it to 48khz like most all audio programs). I just wish they would polish up the UI.

For headphones, it depends on what you like. I used to listen to large headphones like the Sennheiser 650hds but I demoed the Beyer DT flagships at the time as well. I just preferred the Sennheiser sound and the Shure IEMs are meant to be closest to that sound profile. So I got the SE535. If you look on ebay sometimes you can find the SE535's for around your budget. I think I paid about $300 or less for mine a couple of years ago brand new. They are still going strong as well. I've only had to replace the cable recently but I wasn't taking very good care of it.

I'm not sure on other headphones. I just know Sennheiser IEM's leave a lot to be desired and I have only demoed cheaper ones like wood housed IEMs and so on and I really didn't like them.

Bob Marley hits sound great on this phone, as well as Epica, and a little Shpongle. I recommend everyone get a little Shpongle in their lives.
